Home Maintenance & Repairs: I have a hutch cabinet 12x12 attach to the corner of the wall. The door opens to the left and it rubs against the wall.

The 2 bottom drawers also rubs slightly against the wall. The only studs that I fasten the cabinets to is the corner studs. Can I use fillers against the wall? and how do I reconnect the ...»
cabinet to the wall with the fillers. Do I use longer screws? My other idea is to change the door opening to the right, but the drawers are still rubbing against the wall.

This was built from all rough wood. I made it for my wife, her favorite color is purple.

  • Cedar fencing stained

Painting: Cedar fencing question

Hey guys...I'm asking for some input again :-)

We've got a cedar fence that has been stained the "typical" cedar color..kinda reddish. I was wondering if it's possible to make it white somehow. If I had had this installed (we inherited it this color when we bought the house) I would have either let it age/weather to a lighter color or tried a semi-transparent white stain. So is it going to have to stay "as is" or is the only option to paint it...which I'd really rather not do ...»

but...... Looking for a few thoughts/ideas. Thanks guys :-)

Flooring: Pine flooring? Yay or nay

Anybody out there ever use 1 x 8 or 1 x 10 simple pine boards for flooring? Thinking it could be less expensive than hardwood and there's a plan to possibly sand, prime, paint anyway. Thoughts?
