About Me:

I'm a 65-year-old lady living in a house older than I am (if you can believe that!!) I am trying to upgrade it while keeping the old-farmhouse look and style.

Favorite area of home improvement:

I love trying to get the most out of the least. I crochet and knit so now that I am retired I should be able to work up some chair covers in between trying to set up a garden, painting rooms, and canning. "One step at a time gets the journey done"

  • This bathtub is 30+ years old, and has seen many renters come and go before we bought our condo. It was stained, but didn't have any cracks or chips, so I decided to paint rather than replace.
  • The bathtub with it's new shiny bright white paint. I couldn't get the two drains off, so I just painted right over them. 1
  • The first coat of paint going on. You can see how dingy and drab the color of the tub was compared to the bright white paint. 2

DIY Painted Bathtub

I just finished painting my bathtub a couple of days ago. I used Rust-Oleum Tub & Tile Refinishing Kit, and it's still curing (you're not supposed to get water on it for three days), but ...»

Painted canvas floorcloths

For those of you who are tired of spot cleaning (or worse- dry cleaning) an oriental rug under the dining table, why not go with a floorcloth? Heavy canvas is painted and sealed with multiple clear coats to produce a tough, easy to clean and customizable floor covering which will least for decades! More info at http://www.canvasworksfloorcloths.com.

Would you go for something like this in your home?

  • When I replace them, It will look a bit more professional. It will be interesting to see how long they last through the different seasons. 1

My Front Porch

Being on a fixed income I couldn't afford regular patio curtains, so I bought 2 white water-resistant shower curtains at Family Dollar and spray painted them. for 25% of the cost. I now have shade and have dressed up the front of my 70 year-old house.
