stove....can I extend the vent pipe to go thru the chimney space horizontally for 24-30" and then exit the face of the chimney rather than having to run ) clearance piping up the chimeny to the top?

    venting for a set distance, some do not. Not knowing your exact stove and clearances to combustibles makes it impossible to give you a correct and safe answer.

    All manufactures require set distances, sizing and clearances to combustible materials. Read the install instructions. If you do not have them, or access to them. Contact the manufacture of the appliance or a qualified chimney sweep to provide you with the correct answer.
