  • Flanking the bed are two inexpensive closet maid cabinets dressed up with some beadboard wall paper and trim. The top is made from stair treads left over from the stairs that had to be built to access the room. 3
  • The room lacked any architectural interest, so I added some by attaching tongue and groove pine paneling that had been stained to look old and weathered. 1
  • The other side of the room has a small "kitchen" area. The cabinets were purchased from the Habitat for Humanity ReStore and the refrigerator was free. The book case separates the stairway from the room. 3
  • The wall art was a pinterest inspired project using leftover wood from the back wall.

  • The space is 22 feet long by 11 feet wide. We tried to make the most of every inch by incorporating storage into every piece possible.
The IKEA bed has huge drawers beneath and actually pulls out to form a king size bed. 2

Basement Finish in Belleville, IL.

BASEMENT FINISH FOR THE FITTING'S

After the earlier purchase of a Fulford home in Belleville, IL, these clients contacted ...»

Fulford Home Remodeling to expand their home using the unfinished space in their basement. The client's ideas and dreams were brought to life with Fulford's initial 3D virtual design that included room for the new pool table, a ¾ bathroom, kids play area, custom kitchen-sized bar, and a theater room complete with a surround sound system, component niches, a coffered ceiling, and an arched opening. Custom bar amenities included "rustic-alder" cabinets, granite countertops, bar-height seating for four, full kitchen appliances, glass-display cabinet doors, and a stem glass holder above the stainless steel sink. Other basement features included multiple lighting options, "Alterna" tile floors, an aluminum open-baluster stair system, and round colonial columns to cover existing support posts. A great design, attention to detail, and final finishes ensured that this lower level will be enjoyed by many friends and family for years to come.

  • This almost shows the whole of both towers. 7
  • I disassembled all of my collected lamps and laid out the globes to see approximately how much rebar I needed for the tower. 2
  • I used 3/8 inch rebar threaded through all of the pieces. I didn't end up using this base though. The actual construction was quite a bit of trial and error in 100+ temperatures! ARGH!!
  • I used the biggest globe and lamp base for the bottom of the tower. 2
  • I primed and painted all of the lamp pieces I was going to use between the globes. 1
  • I alternated the globe pieces with a lamp parts. Initially I tried to use only the globes but didn't like
the way the glass rubbed and was afraid they would break. 2
  • After figuring out that the globes were too heavy for one tower, I made a second tower. 5
  • They are beautiful with the sun shinning through 12

Well I have been thinking about this topic for quite awhile now. And I had submitted my ...»
feelings and questions to several folks who know a whole lot more then me. I just got a response back from on of my cohorts about this very topic which makes me even more concerned about using these foil systems in an attic. As an inspector and home improvement contractor I cannot tell you how many times I see exposed or improperly wired attics.

This link provided gets to some really big engineering stuff, but the few pages in the beginning will provide some very useful information to all that are considering this type of improvement in their home. All of which makes a lot of sense. For some reason it brings you to the middle of the topic so scroll to the top to start reading.
