All good tips,I like to use a clean rag to rub over the tape. Its soft and less chance of ...»
damaging the tape. As a pro i free hand my lines. But something that does help is this. With a clean rag and a putty knife, i pull it down the areas that may need a lil attention. The thing here is depending on the angle of the putty knife it moves your line a little.

How to - or should I - refinish an antique side table that belonged to Grandma?

I inherited a small side table after my Grandmother passed away? I didn't think it was anything special, and was going to sand down the top (because of all the scratches/watermarks) and ...»
re-stain, and then paint/distress the lower portion with AS chalk paint. When I went to empty out the one drawer, I noticed it had a small brass plaque inside the drawer that reads "A Genuine Cushman Colonial Creation - made in Bennington, VT." Doing a bit of research, it appears that it could be an antique. Will it devalue it to sand and restain? Thanks for the direction.

Painting: What is the right way to glaze kitchen cabinets.

I have just painted the cabinets, buttermilk color. I want to glaze the crevices only. Will the poly-shades product work? It has polyurethane in it?

Hey Linda,Sounds like Kass has got you taken care of.As far as you sealer, Sealer comes in ...»
differant sheens. You can get a high gloss or a low gloss. I would use a polyurethane (oil base) product. You can get a good brush at any paint store or your local home depot. I would go w/ a 3 inch brush. As far as how to do it.It is very easy to seal. What i find i have to keep an eye on is runs in corners.Just glance back over these and you shoulb be fine.I would recommend at least 2 coats w/ a light sanding between coats

Hey Debra,Lets start here since your a beginner to do it right. You will need. Deglosser, a ...»
quart will do for now.Oil base primer, you can get a gallon if you plan on doing more projects like this.Sandpaper, nothing rough a 100 grit to start and a little smoother for later.Get a good oil base brush for the paint store.Mineral spirits to clean your brush (Mineral spirits for all oil base products) I would recommend an oil base finish. It is more durable and last longer. Dont forget some rags. You can use a latex product,it really depends on what you want. Start by sanding the entire table. Not to the raw wood just to remove any loose material and get a smooth surface. Then use your deglosser to wipe the entire table down. This cleans and gives your primer a good surface to bond to.Wait a little bit to prime, but i like to prime within an hour. Sometimes i even put 2 coats of primer, depending on how well its covered. Once its dry, lightly sand. Be sure to remove any dust or dirt afterwards.Your ready for paint.Tip,Sometimes the paint is thick, its ok to put a LITTLE mineral spirits in it to help it move better. You can use a old paint bucket or bowl to work out of w/ your primer and paint. This is better than working out of a full gallon. You will need a couple coats at least, sand between coats but just lightly. Take your time and have fun.Let us know if there is any thing else i can help you w/, plz send pics when you get done Good Luck

Pressure Washing Tips

I have customers that want to know "How" i get it so clean. Cleaning outsides is more chemicals than pressure. Yes some jobs need the pressure. But most are just in need of cleaning. ...»
Instead of using the Chemical injector part of my Pressure Washer.I use a Pump Up Sprayer to apply my Chemicals. This gives me more control over how much i apply. Depending on what i am cleaning a basic mixture is 40% Water 40% Bleach and 20% Vinegar.**This mixture can take your breath,so please use caution** Lets say were cleaning a house for painting.Lets pre wet the entire house.Apply our mixture and in some cases re apply. You need to let the Chemicals do the work. This takes between 10 and 20 mins.Be sure to rinse off all chemicals to ensure proper bonding of your paint. In worse cases you may need to get a stiff brush to help remove stubborn stains with the help of the pressure. Please dont aim the pressure at window. Some Pressure washers can easily break the glass. You can take the tip out, release the pressure and rinse windows safely. When you replace the tip, aim at the ground because sometimes the tip comes off..Good Luck

professional should do.Eairlier in this post i told of a cleaning mixture using Bleach and Vinegar.Steve brought it to my attention of the gases this mixture produce. If you should use this you need to be very careful. The purpose of telling this was for those who want to get the best results from their work. I would hate for someone to get hurt from this post.
