Our mirror mosaic fence. We had a blast creating this. Amazing what can come from a broken mirror mishap.

  • My original beloved Fairyball. 16
  • This is where my Fairyball piece sits in one of my shade gardens. Its on the left of this photo. 3
  • Oh no! A deadly mishap! Had to replace it with a temporary one this morning. 4
  • This is the TOP of the hole that is drilled in the log with the strand of lights plugged into the extension cord that is fished up through the hole in the log.
  • Feeding the lights into the INSIDE of the gazing ball.
  • Lights all inserted into the INSIDE of the gazing ball. This is how the ball will sit in the crook of the log.
  • I tape the extension cord and the end of the strand of lights together with electrical tape so they cannot fall back through that long hole in the log! Helps keep any moisture out too.
  • This is how the gazing ball sits on the log. No glue necessary. it just rests in the crook with the stem in the hole. Now I'll take some moss and cover up the transition.
  • All finished until I find a new gazing ball... 2

Lighted gazing ball

This is my lighted gazing ball that I lovingly refer to as my "Fairyball". It's made from a standard gazing ball that can be purchased at most garden or craft centers and an old log we ...»
fished out of a river while camping. We let it dry for a year, then drilled a hole right up through the center and ran an extension cord up through the hole to plug the strand of lights into. Colored LED lights have been the best string of lights because they do not get hot inside the glass ball and burn out. Its on a timer and glows 365 days a year down in my shade garden.

Easiest plants to keep in the house! Years ago a nursery place told me to put 2 TBSP of water on my orchids every 8 days

them in a non-drafty area and indirect sunlight. I keep them all over my home now and they last forever and re-bloom for me. I even pot them in my bigger pots and put several in the same pot. I LOVE to give them as flower arrangements for special occasions or birthdays!

I have luck with Kroger's orchids priced from 9.99 to 19.99 and IKEA's orchids 9.99 to 17.99.

  • New headboard cover made from a twim size coverlet 4
  • The large pillows were made from the old headboard cover.

I made this headboard about 10 years ago and covered it in the dark print fabric that is now the large pillows on the

bed. I recovered it with a twin bed coverlet that I had. I like it better because it lightened up the room. The best part is it cost nothing!

How can I modify a bit a bed that is from the end of the 1800s to use it in a small bedroom? Not using the footboard.

The bed is very old, solid wood, the head and footboards have the cups for candles. I was thinking in covering the center of the headboard with some upholster having the wood around as ...»
frame. I am considering shortening the legs so is not to tall and not using the footboard.the room is small. Any ideas will be appreciated...thank you.

If the current bed is in really good shape or even close to it. I would attempt to refinish it ...»
and use it as is. However if it is really something that does not fit your decor or in poor shape then simply remove the foot board and construct a new frame to fit the old ones place to hold up that end of the bed. If the legs are removable, you may want to remove them and install shorter ones. It would be a shame to destroy an old piece of furniture it if could be salvaged to its original shape.

  • White is a non color and has contradictory interpretations. In Western cultures it symbolizes innocence and purity, cleanliness. White means safety, purity, and cleanliness. White is associated with light, goodness, innocence, purity, and virginity. 15

  • Red is a very emotionally intense color. It enhances human metabolism, increases respiration rate, and raises blood pressure. Red is the color of fire and blood, and is associated with energy, war, danger, as well as passion, desire, and love. 6
  • Blue represents peace, tranquility, and calm. Just the opposite, it also represents reverie, sadness, and melancholy. Blue also represents the sky, heavens, and the sea which is non ending, therefore it is often associated with depth and stability. 6
