  • After we rebuilt the roof and installed four skylights we rebuilt the steps to the adjoining rooms and redid the floor coverings in a more appropriate manganese floor tile..
  • Prior to our renovation the existing windows were in danger of deterioration from exposure to the elements. Noe the area is an inviting family area as well as a comfortable entertaining spot.
  • These steps were awkward and dangerous before we redesigned them in this flowing design.
  • We modeled the beams on the ceiling after the original hand hewed beams in the adjoining room. 3

Yesterday I posted the historic kitchen that won the local NARI 2012 CotY contractor of the year award.

These are a few of the photos that won us the local 2011 Contractor of the Year award for a remodel in the front entry of the same house.. ...»

This remodel is in the same house as our 2012 CotY winner. In this remodel we removed most of the existing sub-standard roof, then we rebuilt everything under our new roof.

Home Maintenance & Repairs: where do I start?

I have a new water stain on the ceiling. A guest bath is directly above. Who do I call? a contractor? a tile guy? a plumber? drywall guy? How do I know they are qualified?

cracks. We discovered a fiberglass tub repair kit online but am wondering if that's the best route to follow. I don't want to end up with a mismatched patch job or water leaks. Thank you!

  • Dog gate built using shutters 4

My first share -- I wanted something a little nicer and more permanent than a baby gate to try and keep our three dogs

out of the living room. (One of the dogs is old and has ... problems of the floor-ruining sort.) I'd bought these old shutters at a yard sale a few months back and by attaching two and a half of them together and securing them at the top and bottom with trim, they made a perfect gate. Took less than an hour start to finish.

Cleaning & Organization: Cat urine in carpet solutions?

Anyone know of some "home brews" that will take cat urine smells from carpets? I have tried all the commercial cleaners. Not much help there. I sure hate the price tag of replacing a houseful of carpet!
