About Me:

I am married, retired and enjoy crafting, scrapbooking and making greeting cards. I have four grown children, sixteen grandchildren and one great-granddaughter. My husband and I do many home projects and have basically learned the hard way and have come up with wonderful, creative ideas along the way. Always wanting to keep up-to-date with new technology and other people's crafting and decorating ideas. Hope to meet others with the same interests and ideas for creating a great lifestyle!

Favorite area of home improvement:

My husband is the green thumb in the family...although, I do love the lush lawns and gorgeous florals. Unfortunately, we live in an area where deer feed on anything we put in our flower beds so we have considered our yard to be a "cottage" yard and don't worry about planting anything too expensive or that we would miss once it is eaten. We recently updated our kitchen. Our next major project will be replacing wood floors in two rooms of our home. We have a son and daughter living near us so my husband is busy with projects in their homes as well.

  • Hold your spoon over a candle flame or a gas stovetop and move it around. within a few seconds it will start to shrink and curl. It's so much fun to watch!
  • Taking cues from real flowers, you can make specific specimens or whimsical free forms. Hot glue each petal to another and hold it in place until it cools. Working from outside in.
  • The stamens in the middle are created from the ends of the plastic spoons. Direct the flame an inch or so back from the end and when it starts to melt, pull it apart.
  • They all got several light coats of spray paint, making sure to turn it and cover it all. I bought vases at the Dollar Tree and they also got painted. When everthing is dry, each flower was hot glued on to a vase.
  • I used several different types of spoons. This one was so pretty with its smoky gray transluscence, that I chose not to paint it. it looks like blown glass, right?! 1
  • These would be make great Mother's Day gifts! Plant a little succulent in a smaller vase or arrange some cut flowers in one of the taller ones. Mom will love it!
