My daughter is in her first year of college and has just joined a sorority. She grew up in a crafty home -- I was always painting, decorating and making her clothes. I want her small dorm room to be surrounded by personal momentos that celebrate this new chapter in her life. So, I carved a funkin with her new sorority letters to give her a little fall decor. Check out my blog for all the details: http://shannonberrey.com/_blog/Shannon_Berrey_Design_Blog/post/chi-o-funkin-style/
'Funkins' are great to add your special touch to -- carve your favorite team, school, or even kids silhouette. Then you can reuse it year after year!
Sketch out your pattern. Tape a piece of carbon paper on the pumpkin, then tape your sketch on top of it.
They actually make 'artificial pumpkin knives'!
Remove the papers and you are left with your transferred sketch.Cut it using little stabbing motions following your lines.
After a while of cutting and hand massaging ;) you can enjoy your work-of-art!
My sorority girl seems to be smitten with her new decor!
