A Discarded Dresser Gets a French Clouterie Makeover

This dresser was a curbside find. It's former owner had written all over it with ink and had carved drawings into the drawer fronts. After cleaning, sanding, distressing, painting and new hardware, I turned it into a vintage french highboy dresser. Karen - The Graphics Fairy

Before: Scratched, nicked, carved into and covered in ball point pen ink.
I distressed the top with a palm sander and applied a couple of different stains to give it a worn, vintage feel.
It took about 8 hours to hand paint the graphics to the front of the dresser.
The original chunky wooden drawer knobs felt too masculine so I gave the drawers a feminine, jeweled touch by adding faceted crystal pulls.
The new hardware softens the appearance of the drawers and blends with the graphic color.

Love it. I have an piece similar to yours. Have been trying to decide how to refinish. Only problem I have, I don't have the talent you do to paint the design. Beautiful.

Love this! I used that same image but used stain instead of paint to hand stain it onto a steamer trunk/ turned coffee table! Great taste! hahaha
