DIY Wooden World Map Art

After seeing a similar inspiration piece for over $400 I built myself a panel out of wood scraps and used stain to create this world map.

Here is the blog post about how I made it: http://www.thehappierhomemaker.com/2012/06/d...

and here you can see it listed for sale in my Etsy shop: https://www.etsy.com/listing/101953145/rusti...

Tackling an intimidating empty wall... Decorating tips!

blankness. I did a little 'at home' shopping and reused pieces from around the house to make this area feel more like a living space and less like a forgotten hallway. I love how inviting it is now! Blog link: http://www.thriftyinspirations.net/2012/06/...

renos, to ends of kitchen cabinets, to inset door panels in furniture, there are tons of use for beadboard wallpaper. I loved it so much I started selling it in my online shop, off my blog, Southern Hospitality. Here's a link to a bathroom project using it: http://southernhospitalityblog.com/beadboar...

Painted Kitchen Cabinets & Countertops

Yup, cabinets AND counters! The original cabinetry was in perfect shape (only a few years old) but was horribly ill-planned when I picked the colors while building the house. Our kitchen ...»
has no direct sunlight or natural light sources and tended to be VERY dark 90% of the day. We decided to add some undermount lighting to see if that would brighten the space but only made the rest of the room feel even darker. I stumbled upon the Rustoleum Cabinet and Countertops Transformation kits and thought "It can't be that bad.". Let me tell you painting a kitchen this large by yourself (hubs doesn't paint) is not fun. The countertops are really easy to do and only take 2 days + dry time to finish. The cabinets took me a solid week of sun up to sun down but I think all in all the final product is amazing. It's been a while now and they are still in perfect condition like the day I finished. I highly recommend these products!
