Upcycle a Cheap Door Mirror

You know those cheap plastic framed door mirrors that you can find at just about any big box store? I had a couple of them and thought they'd look great as "windows" above my nightstands ...»
if I could make them look better. I've had this vision in my head for a couple years and this past week, those mirrors finally got their glam makeover. Tutorial in link. #diymirror

Cover Shoeboxes With Newspaper For Stylish Frugal Storage

I needed a lot of storage containers for my new craft room. So how to have storage without breaking the bank? I mod podged newspaper onto shoe boxes. I only used mod podge under the ...»
paper, not over, as I didn't want any shine. I also left some Converse boxes plain, but added labels. For more info on how I did that, check out my page.

I'm so bummed...I just threw away 3 or 4 shoe boxes the other day...thinking I had kept them ...»
long enough. Now here comes along a fantastic idea. Looks like I need to go shoe shopping to get more "boxes". Thanks for sharing.

Thanksgiving wall art from thrift store art print

I normally wouldn't give this framed art a second glance, but the size and autumn colors were perfect for Thanksgiving in our dining room. After checking to be sure it didn't have more ...»
value than the $4 I paid, I added the words "give thanks" with a Sharpie. Now rather than sit in a pile of junk, it'll serve as a gentle reminder once a year in our dining room.

  • So Creative!
  • This rustic piece started as an old discarded cabinet with broken handles. 2
  • We used old branches from the yard as hardware in keeping with the rustic look 1
  • A cat flap and vent were added. 1
  • The cabinet was gutted with the drawer fronts mounted on wood and hinged to open freely to clean the litter box 1
  • Coco started using it that day, and it's been wonderful to have the litterbox out of the bathroom. Coco loves the privacy too. 3
  • ... and this is the before picture 4

You'll never guess what's inside this cabinet..

Take a guess what's on the inside of this rustic piece. You'd probably never expect it. An old discarded cabinet takes on a whole new purpose.

The entire makeover can be seen at Recaptured Charm.

wow...maybe now my husband will finally let me have a cat...He hates litter boxes...everything ...»
about them...he often cites them as the reason I can't have a cat...but if I had this cabinet...I would deflate every bit of his reasoning. So I am most appreciative of your work on this.

Our $850 Kitchen Renovation

We were tired of living with our builder grade kitchen (and faded cabinets) but didn't have the budget to completely overhaul things. We pinched every penny that we could, while still ...»
giving the kitchen the more modern feel that we wanted. By painting the cabinets, laying our own backsplash tile, working with the counter top we had, building our own table, thrifting new accessories, and selling some of our old stuff, we were able to complete this whole reno for just over $850.

Many more photos along with a complete budget breakdown and links to all of the kitchen projects are available at http://www.aswellplacetodwell.com/2012/10/ki...
