My Topsy/Turvy Planter

This is my topsy/turvy planter. I decided to put it on a Shepherd's hook instead of Rebar because I could only find 10ft legnths and didn't have the resources to cut one down. I decided ...»
also to hang a lantern from it. As you can see in the first picture I hung one of my old lanterns but then changed it to a newer one I'd bought recently and didn't know where I was going to hang it. I got the general idea for a topsy/turvy planter from Beth H...thank you! I would have loved to make one just like hers but time and money ran out so I used what I could find in my yard.

denim gardeninig pouch made from old jeans

I took an old pair of jeans and cut off all but the backside with the pockets. I left the belt loops so I could clip my keys etc to them with a caribiner. I then took some of the material from one of the legs to make a large pocket that covers the two smaller pockets...this way I could keep my camera and other small items away from dirt, debris, and gardening tools which normally gets into a gardening pouch. I didn't bother sewing the outer edge and bottom of the pouch because the ...»
'hippie' in me thought it would look nice if it starts to fray :)

  • before. Just a cheap box at a close-out store.
  • complete. I gave it an old distressed look.
  • I lined the drawers with Gold Satin that has a red flower design. I figured that the black with gold had an Asian feel and wanted to keep the inside of the drawers the same style.

plain box turned into a Treasure Box

I saw this box at a close-out store and knew it had potential. A little bit of sanding, painting and detail and I now have a Treasure/Jewelry/anything you want to keep in it Box.

Susan I used the many coats of paint method LOL. First black, then gold, then black, then ...»
gold so that when I sanded it down to distress it I could really play around with it. say I sanded too much...then I could sand a little more and get back to the black. Yes, 2 more and I'm very excited to get to them.

great idea Donna :) to be continued....
