Yard Art

I made a "Sign Post" of some of the places we've been lucky enough to visit. I used scrap wood and painted (with craft paint), the destination and miles from our home and screwed them into an old post we already had. I love the Caribbean colors and it makes me smile, remembering the fun we had on each trip!!! :D

  • This is the barn across the road. This is where my house used to sit! They built there 110 years ago. I wish they had remembered to bring the barn!
  • A very large area of Vinca Minor. Im thinking of attempting a trellis for this to block our new neighbors moldy "RV".

My summer retreat.

This is my garden. We love it. It continues to evolve year after year. This was our second year in the house.

  • On my kitchen appliance counter, I turned a vintage metal bread box on its side.
  • Some of my frequently used cookbooks are showing a lot of age, so I hide them inside the bread box.

Scrap Wood Vase... Easy and FREE!

I am calling this a vase, but it's actually a sleeve! I wanted to keep the bottom open so that I could decorate easily with real flowers by putting them in a glass jar and covering it ...»
with the wood sleeve. This took me around an hour start to finish and I love it! If you don't have scrap wood laying around, the cost of wood is still under $8. You can see the full tutorial at http://www.shanty-2-chic.com/2013/04/scrap-w...

Decorating the Front Porch

We had to clear everything off the porch to paint the brick, so I have a clean slate to work with! I wanted to show you the vignette I created yesterday by the front door.
