  • I just love the base - it can be utilized in so many other ways.
  • Fountian floats around and only shoots up water in direct sun. No batteries required ( : Add rocks for the birds and to hold in the center - or it would spit the water over the sides. 2
  • Someone had used it to hold a potted plant.
  • Brass spittoon for creatures other than birds - I polished it up just a little to make it shine.
  • View from my front stoop, where sit and have coffee.

Copper birdbath on wrot iron stand $10 - Floating solar fountain $25 -- Brass spittoon $1.

My daughter said I should do anything to it - she love the patena? What do you think - I think it is unique and worth more than what I spent -- Don't you agree.

  • Second handstore, refurbished and repurposed materials. When there is a stiff breeze - they are music to my ears and my neighbors love them, too.
  • Dining area for my feathered visitor - I have 2 special feeders just for squirrels. I will try and get a better pc of the bird bath soon.

Back yard - works in progress - Photos aren't the best - cheap new camera -

Bird feeders, bird bath w/repurposed indoor fountain in the center, topped off by a wrot iron stand that holds 6 pyrex custard cups for water or orange halves and assorted chimes that hang from the over hang on my patio -

  • Downsizing from 33" - 24" menant more usable space. New single sink with, no window ( ; and a garbage disposal.
  • Reversed doors making it possible to no block the stair well with the entry door. 1
  • I chose a steel door with frosted & beveled glass. Easy to keep clean and I see rainbows on my cabinets on sunny days ( :
  • I downsized & modernized my stove at the same time - from a 30"-24" w/all the bells & whistles- More inches saved. No window, meant we could put in more cabinets & save counter space by building a shelves above the sink and stove.
  • My 1950's knotty pine built cabinets I finally ripped down in 2010.
  • Double cast Iron sink, double hung window over the sink, ( I couldn't reach to open with a view of my back yard neighbors house). They both just had to go!
  • Dark & dangerous doors. Entry door swung open to the left, people entering stepped up onto a landing that left them on the edge of the basement stair way. Two friends actually fell down them! I am sure you get the picture - by now --
  • I designed this myself - it is the second kitchen I have designed. My contractor and I worked together to customize, modernize, brighten and utilize every inch of floor and wall space.
  • Free standing stair well wall, w/Oak shelf. The opening allows you to see the entry and look through a window on the outside wall to the driver way and front yard gardens.
  • added wall cabinets to the top and bottom of the free standing wall, a back splash of marble and glass and a counter top made of black granite tile.........

Transformation - of a 1950's kitchen in to my dream kitchen -

Lived with this inefficient, eyesore for 20 years. A total of 6 upper, 2 lower cabinets, 0 drawspace, ironing board cupboard, broom closet empty door less space beneath a 12 in counter ...»

Love the shot of yo and you tiel - Mine used to sit on my shoulder and whisper secrets - but has grown independent and speaks only to his reflection in the mirror - He is still quite a character.

My daughter is a DIY person, too.

The upsidedown barrel was her 1st pond. She has since dug one in. Last year she built that little green house. I am so proud of her. She is handing down her skills and talents to my grandchildren - here's to the future.

  • Picked these blocks up from the curb years ago and used them as edging in my front yard garden. Then I finally found a much better use for them. I wish I had thought of this years ago but I did not have help then.
  • My grandson helped with the heavy stuff. I had bags of Quckcrete, left by my x-huband. So all materials cost zip! I am going to make a cement slab at the base and landing. Then add hostas & perrenial flowering plants on the sides.

We made steps from decorative concrete Blocks.

Just big in, place, mix and pour .. Gee that makes it sound soooooo easy ---

  • It is hidden behind my bedroom door. I use it to organize my necklaces, bracelets and scarves. It has both hooks w/caps and loops, which swing open for easy removal and closes to keep items secure.

New use for Tie rack

This old tie rack came in real handy. Easy to conceal, easy to use, multiple uses (too bad I only have one).

  • I had a Maple pedistal candish, a battery operated dome light and a dollar store mirror. I recently picked up the lead glass shade for $2 at a thrift shop. Hmm? Let's see--
  • I stacked them up and look what I got? Pretty isn't it?
  • Cool night light too. No electricity needed, protable and I can use a candle or the battery light.
I didn't use the mirror yet - but now that I am looking at the pic's I think it would look nice under the base.

Impromtu night lamp

Being thrifty & creative comes in handy.

  • This is solid Maple one that matches my bedroom set - neat and organized.
  • I used the wire and wicker one to keep my sandals, shoes and hang 4 pairs of assorted flip flops from the curled wire on the corners.

Need a place to stash and organize shoes?

I found a new purpose for magazine racks. So nice they can be left out in a room or in a closet. I love that the have a handle, makes moving them around so easy.

  • This table has a pastel formica top. The pedestil is Chrome, I think. the base is also formica. ( Please ingore the baseboard and wall, they obviously need a new coat of paint),
  • I had this Silver Fiber Optic tree ($4 - thrift store) I put 2 candle on my mom's old silver plated tray and added her Crystal thermometer in the center.
  • The tree base is silver and plastic, I drilled small holes in it, to let out the heat from the bulb and let the light shine through the lead crystal chip bowl it sets in. I put rasberry sea salts in the bottom. Aroma therapy.
  • Lastly, I added another lead crystal candy dish with a Butterfly edge ( 1 of the themes in my living), inserted a battery operated glowing crytal. So no matter what happens there will alway be light.

Another great find -

I walked my dogs around the neighborhood and came across this end table - i had never seen anything like it before & I new right off - exact how & where I would use it. I went home and ...»
enlisted the help of a friend - to pick it up and put ii in my Station wagon. Yes, it wasa that heavy - I could not lift it myself. Here is what I did with it.

I collect Fantasy items. I acquire shadow boxes from a friend, thrift shop and one from a yard sale.

I am so please to have my collection out of storage and mounted on the walls of my bedroom.

Much of my collection has been gathered over the years, some gifts, some from thrift shops and yard sales. I did bye a few at the $! store....
