Transplanted Perennials From Old Home to New Yard - Weed Control

In November of 2012 I planted bulbs to start - sorry no pics from the results. Actually move in started gardens at the base of front trees, the side of the garage and driveway. I love ...»
perrenials because; they spread, propogate themselves, eventually growd out weeds, (at least til the fall), add color, texture, interest to our otherwise flat nad boring landscape. Already, neighbors stop to chat and make comments on how nice things look. I just smale and say - wait 'til next year.

  • DIY - from one generation to the next.

My daughter is a DIY person, too.

The upsidedown barrel was her 1st pond. She has since dug one in. Last year she built that little green house. I am so proud of her. She is handing down her skills and talents to my grandchildren - here's to the future.

I am not getting the digests any more. I miss them. Can you please start sending them again?

I am not active, because I am busy building a LIFE LONG relationship. I will be selling my place, so there is alot to be done before and after. My beau is handy and creative in ways that I find amazing. I will be sharing his handy work too.

  • Picked these blocks up from the curb years ago and used them as edging in my front yard garden. Then I finally found a much better use for them. I wish I had thought of this years ago but I did not have help then.
  • My grandson helped with the heavy stuff. I had bags of Quckcrete, left by my x-huband. So all materials cost zip! I am going to make a cement slab at the base and landing. Then add hostas & perrenial flowering plants on the sides.

We made steps from decorative concrete Blocks.

Just big in, place, mix and pour .. Gee that makes it sound soooooo easy ---

  • This is solid Maple one that matches my bedroom set - neat and organized.
  • I used the wire and wicker one to keep my sandals, shoes and hang 4 pairs of assorted flip flops from the curled wire on the corners.

Need a place to stash and organize shoes?

I found a new purpose for magazine racks. So nice they can be left out in a room or in a closet. I love that the have a handle, makes moving them around so easy.

  • It is hidden behind my bedroom door. I use it to organize my necklaces, bracelets and scarves. It has both hooks w/caps and loops, which swing open for easy removal and closes to keep items secure.

New use for Tie rack

This old tie rack came in real handy. Easy to conceal, easy to use, multiple uses (too bad I only have one).

  • I had a Maple pedistal candish, a battery operated dome light and a dollar store mirror. I recently picked up the lead glass shade for $2 at a thrift shop. Hmm? Let's see--
  • I stacked them up and look what I got? Pretty isn't it?
  • Cool night light too. No electricity needed, protable and I can use a candle or the battery light.
I didn't use the mirror yet - but now that I am looking at the pic's I think it would look nice under the base.

Impromtu night lamp

Being thrifty & creative comes in handy.

  • This table has a pastel formica top. The pedestil is Chrome, I think. the base is also formica. ( Please ingore the baseboard and wall, they obviously need a new coat of paint),
  • I had this Silver Fiber Optic tree ($4 - thrift store) I put 2 candle on my mom's old silver plated tray and added her Crystal thermometer in the center.
  • The tree base is silver and plastic, I drilled small holes in it, to let out the heat from the bulb and let the light shine through the lead crystal chip bowl it sets in. I put rasberry sea salts in the bottom. Aroma therapy.
  • Lastly, I added another lead crystal candy dish with a Butterfly edge ( 1 of the themes in my living), inserted a battery operated glowing crytal. So no matter what happens there will alway be light.

I collect Fantasy items. I acquire shadow boxes from a friend, thrift shop and one from a yard sale.

I am so please to have my collection out of storage and mounted on the walls of my bedroom.

Much of my collection has been gathered over the years, some gifts, some from thrift shops and yard sales. I did bye a few at the $! store....
