About Me:

I'm a stay at home mother of two beautiful daughters with another baby on the way and wife to a brainy aerospace engineer who, ironically, barely has enough common sense to keep himself alive day to day. I've got an incurable genetic disorder causing me to love all creatures of the animal kingdom and I've a 'To Do Before I Die' list that could easily circle the globe several times.

Favorite area of home improvement:

I enjoy just about anything I can do myself: sewing, landscaping, painting, carpentry, flooring, drywalling...anything that doesn't require me to climb too high on the ladder!

What a huge house... beautiful spaces.... but it is dark... covered porches tend to do that... ...»
I would take out all the top cupboards... for windows :) and if you can get rid of the soffet (sp?) ... so heavy looking.... refurbish the cabinets a light color... that could be one gorgeous and effecient kitchen...

I don't know what they were thinking in the bathroom... I have fought tooth and nail not to have that floor in my kitchen... makes me dizzy... I do like the art work on the wall... except it kind of looks like an ultrasound paper trail... but they did a good job at it...

The great room... :) I'd fill tht w/ plants and trees...

They have alot of whites that are tinted.... light will cast the softest hue of color.... when you do the entire room.. ceiling and walls... it's a beautiful effect... calming

outside would be super pretty w/ a green sage/ olive ... I did a friends cedar shake house in Olive trim and almost a dusty lemon yellow.... was so pretty.... blended into the surroundings almost... he also had alot of rockwork

    good luck and have fun!

DIY Wooden Couch Sleeve

I saw an Etsy listing for these with a hefty price tag, and realized I could make mine for about $5. These are so easy, I'm already making sleeve #2 and have requests from family to make some for them as well :)

Farewell old barn!

We loved our old barn but it was time for it to go after over 100 years of service to us and previous owners. Read the whole story at The Rehomesteaders' blog: http://therehomesteaders.blogspot.com/2012/1...

Thank you! Yeah, I was not a fan of the paneling but actually quite like it now that it's painted.
