Lovely! We are RIGHT NOW working on a building about the same size (will be our "bunk house). ...»
Roof looks exactly the same, made of cinder blocks, too! Just had new windows and door put in. When we moved here 32 years ago, it had been a milk house.

Re-inventing an old milk house into a guest house.

We've taken out the old windows and doors, pulled down the ceiling to expose the ceiling boards. We have access to water and electricity as this is next to the barn. Thinking of bunk ...»
beds with the bottom bunk to be also used as a couch. Room for a table, chair(s) and counter with a small sink and shelves for storage of dishes, etc. Also small dresser for clothes/linen storage. We'd like to connect this to the corner of the barn and have a small shower/toilet area. Any suggestions or photos of something that you might have done? Thanks!

Porch Swing Chains

Last summer I wrapped twine around the chain on my porch wing to take away the grey harshness. The swing was out on the porch all winter (PA, so granted, it wasn't a very harsh winter) and it has held up very well!

  • Before, note the one small window that allows very little light in the kitchen due to a patio and a huge tree. 4
  • I did a lot of prep work before I started priming.
  • I used a paint sprayer to primer and paint all of the doors and drawer fronts. 1
  • After several coats of primer and semi-gloss paint. 1
  • I painted my hinges and installed new knobs instead of the brass colored handles. 2
  • After--so much cleaner and brighter looking, don't ya think? 16

How I painted my oak cabinets

I have a step by step process on My Repurposed Life http://www.myrepurposedlife.net/2010/12/how-...

I painted the cabinets about 18 months ago. Not a nick or a scratch anywhere. I really took a lot of precautions to make sure this paint STUCK.
