Outdoor Living: Why is the cost double for a deck built from Trex versus wood?

Seems like it would be less expensive to purchase a wood deck every 10 years.

Hi Victoria, there are other costs with wood , like up keep, every 2 years you have to coat ...»
wood. You don't have to do that with composite decking. Having said that, to me nothing beats wood. If you notice, when ever anyone sends in a picture of a beautiful deck ,it is always wood. the bottom line is it comes down to this, if you want a deck that works and is there and you don't have to worry about upkeep, then go with composite. If you want a deck that you can be proud of, you go with wood.
