Easy Deck With Concrete Blocks and Railroad Ties

I needed to cover up a shameful space in my backyard. And, provide another area for seating. I wanted it to be cheap, easy and fast. This method of building a deck was perfect! The only tool needed was a drill.

Magnetic Flowers on Lampshades

Embellished lamp shades can be pretty pricey and if you like to change out your shades, gluing and pinning things on can ruin them. Check out what I came up with @ http://twelveoaksmanor.com/2013/04/01/flower...!!

  • Flower tute from House of Smiths, and colored brads from Micheal's made up the embellishments for the lampshade.
  • I simply used black slinky fabric and spray adhesive to recover the shade.
  • The before. Not bad....just not workin' in my house.
  • All finished. This adds some girlish whimsy to the space.

My Lampshade Makeover....a little girlish whimsy.

I found a great lamp at a yard sale a couple summer's ago, but it wasn't really "fitting" with my house, so it was made-over to fit my nursery. The nursery is supposed to be fairly gender ...»
neutral, but I put more "boy" touches on my son's side and more "girl" touches on my daughter's. This was one of those girlish touches that I may have gotten carried away on.

Washi Tape Lampshade

Such a simple way to take a boring, white lampshade and customize it for a room. I made this shade for my oldest daughter's room.
