My favorite cold weather fragance is the "Wintersweet" Chimonanthus praecox var.

luteus. I wanted to share a couple of pictures of the large one in my yard. It has brought many years of landscape filling smells that are similar to the banana Kits taffy I ate as a child.

Just return from the Raley family's annual trip to Williamsburg, Va.

Members of the my family and I have made the Christmas trek every year since the 1950s. These are examples of some of the beautiful wreaths along Duke of Gloucester Street in the ...»
Historic district. They are each made with plant cuttings, orchid fruits, feathers from the barnyard and other items from every day life in the colonial capital.

These are just four of the 600 poinsettias in a greenhouse at Campbell Road Nursery in Raleigh.

Phil Campbell's brother grows them in King, NC. There is an article in the December edition of Our State Magazine about his operation.

Wanted to share this beautiful ginger lily with you.

It is Hedychium coronarium and came from Tony Avent's Plant Delights Nursery near Raleigh. This gorgeous lily started blooming over the weekend. It not only blooms in the fall, but its fragrance is like honey suckle. With the frangrant osmanthus and plants like this filling the landscape with wonderful scents in our area, I'm trying to spend as extra amount of time out of doors.

I wanted to share a few pictures of our broadcast at the North Carolina Executive Mansion in Raleigh, the home of our

Governor. It was built in the eighteen hundreds. We were invited to do our show there by Governor Perdue and joined by the mansion curator Gerald Adams.
