Flooring: Pine flooring? Yay or nay

Anybody out there ever use 1 x 8 or 1 x 10 simple pine boards for flooring? Thinking it could be less expensive than hardwood and there's a plan to possibly sand, prime, paint anyway. Thoughts?

    them. They are great mostly because if, like ours were, they were once carpeted/tiled/linoleumed(sp?) etc. you can take all that crap off and sand em down just a bit and put some brown oil based floor paint down over them and they look like new, despite any carpet glue residue that may have been left over, plus it's pine so you don't have to feel bad about painting it!

    with the products you are talking about, but i assume being a fungicide/pesticide, that they are probably not safe around pets.
