Kitchen Island Made From an Old Door....

I have always wanted to attempt making a kitchen island and I finally found the perfect one to make...... From and inspirational picture found on PINTEREST to a Kitchen Island I'll Love ...»
forever, cause it was made by my own 2 hands....

To see The step by step instructions I used to make this ...Please visit My BLOG PAGE..

UPDATE!!!!!!!!

I noticed that a few people have commented on maybe adding a piece of Plexi Glass to the top of this....... Sorry I forgot to say in the post that I went and purchased some Plexi glass and have it sitting on top of the Door.... It's not shown in the picture cause I purchased it after I had taken all the pics... Sorry for the confusion... But thank you all for your input :)..... It definitely is a must for sure..... a lot easier to clean and no food getting into all the Crevices ......

My Impatience Finally Paid Off!

First, I will say that I love working on various re-purposing projects in the little bit of spare time I have....my biggest problem is that I'm so impatient when it comes to waiting ...»
between steps like I should because something in my personality wants instant results. I recently redid a small dresser, and after layering on some off-white paint, I wanted to sand it back to remove it for a worn look. I didn't wait for the paint to completely dry and when I sanded, it was still "sticky wet", and produced this very cool "chipped paint" effect. My husband wasn't thrilled that I gummed up so much sandpaper, but he'll get over it. Thought the "slightly wet" paint technique may be of use to those of you looking for this effect and/or are as impatient as I am!

  • This is the dresser. I have had it more than 20 years. I have a matching taller one, but I want to use that for something else.

Painting: Can I use wall paint on old, finished wooden furniture?

I have an old laquered dresser and an old wooden twin bed that I want to repaint for my son's 3rd birthday.

I bought some teal and lime paint from the mis-tint rack at Lowe's, intending on using it on the walls. I also wanted to use it on the furniture so it all matches, but I want to make sure that it is going to stick. I have read about sanding and priming it first, but I would love to know if there is any way I can get around this step without buying any other special paint? ...»

I will try to post a pic later when I get home of the bed. I dont have one right now.

I have used wall paint on furniture but have sanded first. I did skip the priming and it ...»
turned out fine. A mouse sander works really nice for sanding easily.
