As you can see in this photo, the old tile job left mastic on the firebox. I use Goo-Off and
it all came right off. Then I repainted it with BBQ Paint-I'll re-post a photo the minute I get a new mantel! If look brand new! Now I want to get Fire Glass and switch out the fake logs! I just can't stop myself-help me someone!
I got bored so i decided to spice up this concrete table that i am going to sell. I am going to finish it tomorrow and i will post finished pics. I made it 3" thick and put a grey
concrete band around it. I put alot of voids and veins in the grey band where i can go back and fill with blue concrete to match the surface. My wife saw it and is wanting to keep it for our house..... after its been sitting in my way at the shop for a year! Does anyone know where i could get some large tree stumps? i think this would look good if i made a base that was one or two large tree stumps..... or make a concrete base that looks like a tree stump with branches coming out to support it.
So I just hate the "Plain Jane" tile the contractor put in the Great Room and they did not include a Mantel. So I've been looking into Mantels and found this great supplier (http://www.timbermantels.com/) and would love to pull the tile and put in slate and put up one of these great natural edged mantels. Do you think it would be too much!!!

Little by little I have been getting my own tools. This Christmas my husband bought me a
Cordless Circular saw-best present I got!!! Started using it as soon as I got it charged!!! Then I wrapped it and opened it up with the Grandkids!
