About Me:

I am a writer for http://hometipster.com/ a Home & Garden magazine and so much more. Many of my articles are about ideas I find interesting and my own experience with projects in the yard and around the house. I hope you'll look me up!

Favorite area of home improvement:

Time outside is never a waste and my passion is working in my flowerbeds and vegetable/herb gardens.

Cleaning & Organization: Leftover smell of smoke in car

My sister finally gave up smoking 2 years ago but the smoke smell is still in the car. She was told it would cost $600.00 to remove it as they would have to take the car apart. Is there another way of getting rid of this smell. Thank You

I've never been able to completely get rid of the smell, but shampoo the carpet (don't forget ...»
the trunk) seats and any other fabric and wipe down all hard surfaces with white vinegar. Next, place a bowl of vinegar or charcoal in the front and rear seating area and the trunk. It can sit overnight,be dumped in the morning and repeated daily for about a week. Change or wash the air filter. If you park in the sun, you may smell the smoke but in lessening degrees.

Love my Garden Stamp!

I've always wanted a veggie garden away from my patio and contained. Planting seeds with the right spacing and depth always deterred me from it. I was introduced to The Garden Stamp at www.gardenstamp.com and absolutely love it. I have a full bed of lettuce growing in perfect rows and spacing. I'm so excited to watch it grow and can't wait for my first harvest so I can stamp my garden again and plant something new!

What a clever solution; you'll need to let us know when you have a harvest.

HI Raylee Mushrooms will spread very ...»
fast as you know, but normally like a damp area or rotting wood to settle on. Is your yard unusually wet right now or is this a recurring issue? If not cleaning fallen tree debris may help or you could try to aerate your soil.

Where I live most of us set the veggies/fruit on a table near the road with bags and a can for ...»
money. Yes it is on the honor system but it seems to work well here and I have done it with flowers from my gardens after dividing them too.. Also if you have an acre of property or more you get a tax break if you sell veggies or fruit you have raised----another benefit!
