Attn Re/faux-finishers: These are pictures of a Hometalker's den that called us for some ideas to change the look of

the stained wood. They want to keep a stained look but make the different kinds of builders wood blend and look richer. I know how to apply a glaze but lack the vast experience of a ...»
faux finisher. I would appreciate any ideas on techniques for someone like myself who knows how to stain and varnish with off the shelf products. Thanks much, Charles

Painting: I have judges panelling in my family room, and I'm thinking of painting it white.

How should I go about doing this or should I get a professional to do the job? There are also matching wood shelves on either side of the fireplace, as well as wood stained crown molding. Sounds like a big job.....
