Appliances: I'm starting a house from scratch: What are the best washers, dryers, fridges and dishwashers?

I was looking at the very high end Samsung washer/dryers - what do you think? Worth it? Is it worth splurging on the hi-tech appliances?

I bought the Samsung set and hate it. It does not clean my clothes, has a bad smell and is ...»
expensive. If I had to do it over again I would buy the large old fashion washer, where you can see the laundry agitate. None of those new systems. How can laundry get clean with that little water? And how can it rinse all the soap out? My towels have a very ugly smell.
