  • I refinished this old table and recovered the chairs.
  • Used an old entry table to dress up the end of my boxy island.
  • I had a problem with this cheap hollow core door to my laundry room. On the left wall is an entry door and it looked quite strange to me. So I made a message center with chalk and magnet paints.

  • Not sure why this picture is so dark, it's a very light and bright kitchen!
  • I refinished this table and recovered the chairs. They have a dark stain accent on the front that matches the color of the table. I like the contrasting wood colors.
  • The tapestry which inspired the kitchen.
  • Office desk, exterior door, laundry room door, and a chair I have yet to recover.
  • I designed the backsplash pattern, the SO cut it, and I set it and grouted and sealed!
  • It was raining, my window is not that dirty, I swear! :)
  • The counters: Well, we have A LOT of counter space, which is great, but not if you don't have $700 for new laminate or THOUSANDS for hard surface. So we used a product called Giani and painted them. I love it! Very durable $120 3
  • Our inherited mural replaced with a buttery happy yellow!
  • Yard sale picture. .50 cents, removed icky border, suspended picture with old wire, let wall show through....Love the look.

Kitchen Face-lift on a budget

We have a large kitchen that was awful when I moved in. It was harsh, and cavernous, echoed and cold feeling. Just down right old. My goal was to warm it up, bring the ceiling down, ...»
make it homey and comfortable. We spent under 3500.00 including decor. We did the work ourselves saving a bunch of labor costs. Installing the tile backsplash, crown molding, painting cabinets, replacing hinges and hardware. Lighting just repair work. It took some time, but doing it ourselves has left us feeling very accomplished. I hope you like the change a little money and a lot of work created!

DIY Bookcases Using Kitchen Cabinets as the Base

My husband constructed these bookcases with birch plywood and by using unfinished kitchen cabinets purchased at a big box store as the base. I think he did a great job! You can read and ...»
