Some decorating advice please.

I bought these mirrors at IKEA for pretty cheap to put up around my apartment. I put two up vertically next to the front door. I really like having them there but I feel like they need something- like I need to frame them or something. Looking for inspiration.

Yes, a frame would be terrific and also a silk scarf gracefully cascading over the top would ...»
be a 30 second solution and help soften the square edges.

Easy DIY PVC water fun for the kids

I decided that our kids needed some outdoor water fun since we live in Arizona and do not have a pool at our house. We used about 100' of PVC pipe and created a structure that our kids ...»
could run through. We drilled holes everywhere and connected the hose for a super easy, inexpensive water adventure!

Gardening: Hibiscus: Same Pot for 2-3 years. Is this restricting growth and why it looks so bad this year?

2 years ago, LOTS of flowers EVERY DAY. I would look out to the pool and new blooms everyday. Last year, hardly any, this year, ONLY 1 so far! I think the Pot is too small and restricting growth. What else do I need to do?

  • Patio makeover using concrete pavers and gravel

http://jennifersmenti...

PATIO MAKEOVER! As a renter sometimes you are limited to what you can do to make your place feel like your own. Sometimes all you need to do is just ask your landlord. That's what we did with our patio makeover. He was fine with it and trusted our judgement. Heck, we added value to the place! We wanted to do it in an affordable way, so we used pavers and gravel. We are so pleased with the results! for more details you can visit my blog www.jennifersmentionables.wordpress.com

Re-purposing old family mailbox

I saw this on Pinterest and Honey helped me! I bet sometimes he thinks Pinterest is awesome and the other times he thinks it might just be the devil! I now use it to store my garden tools ...»
and gloves. Certainly has increased his creative work load around the house! The mailbox belonged to my son's great-great grandparents and his namesake AP Young. It is priceless to us!

Does anyone know what could be causing the leaves on my Mandevilla to turn yellow and the flowers die?

Its been in the same spot for over a year and has always done great. I don't see any bugs on it, but I did spray it with Ortho Flower & Rose insect spray, but it hasn't helped.

I would fertilize it with Miracle Gro \as it should be more lush for this time of year. In ...»
addition please check sprinklers as it is not enough in this heat to just get the leaves wet. If it is not enough volume then the plant stays stressed and drops leaves. Also being so close to the house the heat ratio is microwave-like as the heat radiates off of the wall and the plant dehydrates faster if the water volume is not sufficient.

Outdoor Living: Oak trees & Grass

I have two huge oak trees in my front yard and I have trouble growing grass under the tree canopy. The ground is currently covered with dead oak leaves, but I plan on trying to convince ...»
grass to grow this spring. I have put down St. Augustine sod in the past and it has not survived. I have an inground sprinkler system so water is not an issue. I don't know if the shade is the issue or the acidity of the soil. Does anybody have any suggestions for successful grass under these conditions?

I expect the St. Augustine to slowly die again. Deep shade, and roots is not going to work for ...»
this grass. I would not throw money away on past failures but would rather you add high quality garden soil and add groundcovers such as, flax, liriope, aztec , asiaic Jasmine or mondo. caladieums can be added for summer color. If the grass dies again you will have to add the groundcovers anyway so save yourself some money longterm.

  • I painted my propane tank to look like a watermelon with a ladybug on top. 1

My watermelon looking propane tank

Our propane tank is small since it only is used for our fireplace. The propane tank was rusted and unsightly. I painted it to look like a watermelon with a ladybug on top. It is in the shade all the time, so no danger of overheating due to paint.
