  • What I found!
  • The finished product 2
  • I took my leaf blower to the door to blow off any dust and chips (brilliant), and washed it again with my favorite Windex Multi-cleaner.
Then I sprayed the entire door with two coats of poly to seal the remaining paint chips.
  • I measured a full-sized bed so I could mark where the reading lamps should go. I then drilled a pair of holes where each lantern would go - one hole to accommodate the threaded post, and another one to push the wires through.
  • The finished product will be hung on 100lb "D" rings attached to a 1x3 on the wall to distribute the weight. This baby is heavy and I'm not taking any chances!

Chippy Door Upcycled into a Headboard

I've been renovating a beach cottage for the past year and came across this great old door up in the rafters of the garage. ...»

When a friend asked me recently to design an Adventure/Map bedroom for her seven year old son, I thought it was the perfect time to put it to use.

I'm designing his bedroom around the world travel concept using maps, globes and flags and thought this headboard complete with reading lanterns, would make a great addition to the room.

I even added some old lanterns for reading in bed!

Check out my link for the complete headboard tutorial:
