My fairy tale style shed

This is a 2 story shed I built with the help of a friend a few years ago. It actually has a second floor loft that is accessible via a permanent ladder inside. It has double garage doors ...»
in the back with ramps so I can get my tractor in and out easily. There are cedar shakes near the roof on the sides with a cute little window with shutters that swing out cottage style. I used old windows and an old door I had lying around and then built the shutters and window boxes. There is a matching window on the side and the windowbox flowers overflow by mid summer and cover half the windows. I love my little fairy tale shed and enjoy decorating it for summer. Deer, groundhogs and other wildlife enjoy hanging out there. Thanks for letting me share my love of gardening.

  • I wanted a very old and rustic looking birdbath so I tried something new. I mounded up garden earth and chips of shredded mulch. I allowed the cement to drip off the edges of the castor bean leaf. I am very happy with the results.
  • Here I used an elephant ear. You can see where the leaf shrunk and left a border around the edge. This will be good when I apply the stain after the cement has cured properly.
  • Items needed; tarp, sand, gloves, cement, plastic bag, shovel and something to mix the cement in, I prefer a wheelbarrow.
  • Lay the tarp, mound your sand, cover with a plastic bag, and lay your leaf face down. Mound the leaf with your cement mixture being sure it is thicker in the middle and tapers toward the leaf edges. Cover with tarp for 48 hrs.

I planted doorknobs!

Hobby Lobby has the most gorgeous row of doorknobs. I couldn't resist plunking a few in with my violas. They sparkle in the sun!

  • This is a simple recipe to make for your own home or to give in a jar as a great housewarming gift. Add all of the ingredients in with water or apple cider and simmer on low for hours. Upcycling Wine Bottles to a Plant Nanny

Need some help watering the plants while you're out of town... or maybe forget about them while you're in town. :/ Save up a few wine bottles and corks and make yourself a plant nanny.
