Our mailbox was in need of a makeover. Here in SW Florida our mailbox takes a beating, being in the heat and sun all year long. They get faded and look dull. It was time to give it a makeover.

This was a labor of love repurposing two large slabs of slate nearly 2 inches thick. Both have been cut at compound 10 degree miters (by hand) joined with epoxy where the smaller one passes trough at double miter of 10 degrees through the larger piece. The larger piece is about 7 foot long anchored in the ground with a concrete pour (10 bags) with rebar drilled through the slate for added stability (below grade). I've been talking about doing this for a while, so I had my husband go out and take it down for me. I played around with the pattern until I came up with one I liked, and then glued, then grouted.
