  • This is my "totem". I've had it outdoors for several years now. It's held up really well except for the "ladder" incident last fall while a helpful neighbor was helping me clean out the gutters. 11
  • These are the tools you'll need. I use GE II Silicone for Windows and Doors (clear) with a caulk gun.
A level will come in handy to make sure your totem doesn't lean. 4
  • Wash and dry (thoroughly) your glassware. I suggest you let your vases and such dry overnight. If you have ANY moisture inside, it will be sealed inside once you apply your sealant.

I have some left over semi flat metal stakes for garden edging. They didn't work at holding ...»
the edging in so I figured what the heck, I'll try these. I drilled a hole nd bolted one on with the metal flower pieces. I'm going to drill the other metal flowers and put some back to back so that I can see the pretty flowers from the front deck. Sunday I'll post pictures of the flowers and the polatems that should be done by this weekend.

  • This almost shows the whole of both towers. 8
  • I disassembled all of my collected lamps and laid out the globes to see approximately how much rebar I needed for the tower. 2
  • I used 3/8 inch rebar threaded through all of the pieces. I didn't end up using this base though. The actual construction was quite a bit of trial and error in 100+ temperatures! ARGH!!

right that is a beautiful flower. Never thought of an egg plate, wow. I haven't drilled my glass ones but I am willing to give it a try. You have to get an really good bit (cobolt metal) to drill through the metal ones if they are stainless beacuse regular bits won't stay sharp enough. I did buy several ceramic/glass drilling bits for the glass plates. Goodwill is having a big sale tomorrow so I may have to do some shopping. I found a huge basket of junk jewlery, beads and stuff, when I went shopping with my sons for a late Mothers' Day. I've been sorting them into my thrift store jars that just happen to all fit back into the basket. I found about a dozen large clip earrings to add to my bathroom chandalier. I'll be working on that in June when there is more sunlight because I'll have to take it down to glam it up.
