mushrooms, flowers, and gnomes oh my!

@Bernice, Here they are, mushrooms, flowers and gnomes in all their glory!. The neighbor thinks they look like radar dishes for talking to aliens hahaha. I was going for the sun kissed ...»
upturned look. They are mostly metal except the small one on the left in the picture, The glue didn't hold on the big one behind the trellis so version B will be completed by drilling a hole in the middle and using bolts, lock washers and nuts to hold it all together.

  • Nasty cheap carpet and the oops with the polyshades can. Plain old off white boring walls, cheap imitation oak window and baseboard trim. It has to go.
  • Overflowing bookcases and boxes. We donated 3 garbage bags and sent 3 bags to the trash. Some of the stuff was junk from over 30 years ago!
  • The sewing area where the chair is, the crocheted exercise mat I made in front of the TV with the equipment under it and part of the storage area. New hardwood ash floors. Yes you can install it yourself.
  • Storage area all cleaned up with room to spare. Picture frames are hanging on the wall waiting for me to make something to put in them.
  • My new work bench for drilling, painting etc. It's behind the bookcase with the bins. The decorative grates will be used to hang instructions or ideas from.
  • the sewing and beading area directly opposite of the work bench. I have my great grandmothers sewing cone hanging from one.
  • The closet storage area next to the bookcases. Yes, that's the paint for the room in 2 of the cubbies. Thank you closetmaid.

It's done! My craft & exercise room is ready for use. I divided the 9' X 9' room into zones, most of it storage.

The before pictures are what happens when you use poly indoors, drop the can and decide to just store stuff. The after pictures show the 4 different zones in the room. I have a sewing and ...»
beading area, exercise area, soldering, drilling and painting area and a storage aera all in a 9 X 9 room. I painted the window area and closet 2 different shades of purple from the main room which is lavender, added crown molding which is the same color as the adjacent guest bedroom. We framed in the window, added trim all around, and new blinds because the old ones were too wide after we added the framing.#newyearsresolution.

area and back if I want to. I crotcheted the exercise mat, it is slippery on the wood floor but then that just adds another no impact exercise routine I can do by standing on it and twisting or sliding back and forth like an ice skater. It's completely machine washable and I used up about 8 different left over balls of yarn. Now I can bring my new sewing machine upstairs where it belongs and start sewing my throw pillow covers and new bathroom shower curtain.

mushrooms and flowers for the garden and yard

Bernice H , I finally got the glue (E6000) going. Why didn't anybody here warn me that once it starts flowing it just won't ...»
stop? lol I guess I'll let it dry and then try to pop it off the hardwood floor. You do have to put it on both pieces and let it get tacky then stick them together. It's a contact cement similiar to the adhesive used when laminating countertops.

glass vase, I am going to put half marbles in there to add just a little color and bling! I think I posted a lot about E6000..I use clear indoor out door silicone..caulk e6 is too runny for me. I love the metal pieces, and the red in the middle is very cool attention getting. Watch out for bees they may mistake this for the real thing! haha

  • For the Garden
  • Nebraska Cornhusker gnomes, a cheerleader and a football player. They are waiting for me to plant the front garden. These are for my husband. My flying pig is in the background .
  • closeup of both the muscari grape hyacinths and my regular hyacinths, it smells nice out there.
  • The bed that parallels the driveway is full of grape hyacinths the other hyacinths are coming up as well as all the other flower bulbs. The iris and gladiolis didn't completely die back so they are starting to green up as well.

Purple and blue flowers

My overflowing grape hyacinths. Yes I do love purple. I missed the shots of the crocus blooming white yellow and purple. #itchingforspring.

indoors tool storage

I saw Anne @ DesignDreams by Anne repurposed tool box that was pretty enough to be left out in the open so I decided ...»
to add storage to 2 unused little storage ottomans. Here is one of them. I couldn't find my seam ripper to open the side seams so I carefully used a box knife. Now all my screwdrivers, wrenches, pliers, hammer and wrecking bar are in a pretty home and I can find them. The other box will hold my electric drill and its accessories along with extra wrenches, screwdrivers, and plumbing tools. The clunky old plastic toolbox will be used to store "extra" parts and pieces in the craft room. I will have more room in my downstairs closet since the tool box and bags won't be in there. I timed myself for the second one so I could be close to real life time not TV time. My only cost was for the bucket organizer.

resolutions

My resolution is to fininsh the redos in the house, some are from 2009! Baseboard installation and picture hanging are the biggest issues. Also the stairway risers, guest bedroom and craft room. #NewYearsResolution Husband will cut the riser pieces and I will sealcoat them, approximately 3 to 4 at a time with 5 ...»
coats each so about a week per group. The part that makes it hard is getting the measurements just right for the risers.

The black thing in the second picture is a tumbler for mulch which I can't use on the gardens ...»
because that is where I put my grass clippings, weeds and shredded credit offers. It doesn't seem to get hot enough to kill the weed seeds. I found out the hard way. Just below it is a fire pit that the county says I can't use now because of the burn restrictions (it's too big and the only time it's dry enough we have burn bans). I plan on a water feature there and terracing it eventually so I can have a veggie garden back there. For this spring I just want to get the scrap dirt from various other projects to the top right hand corner to help level it out. A bobcat would be a big help both this spring and when we do terrace it but I don't know if it will fit between my house and the fence < 8' on one side and <5' on the other. So far turtle power seems to be it unless I can find some local teens wanting $$ this summer. No luck last year.

  • We now have a gate across the stairs at the top but it just weaves around it from the steps.

Outdoor Living: How do I keep an unknown neighbor's cat from peeing on my front porch, furniture and cushions?

We can't use a motion sensor water scarecrow because it would get the delivery people all wet too.
