Easy Tile Job for Bathroom Floor

This is the slate floor that we installed ourselves. It involved no cutting because we used one inch squares in a 5 X 5 space in a traditional 5x8 bath. This is an easy first tiling ...»
project. We mixed our own grout, because premixed grout gets stuck in the pores of natural stone. The hardest part is removing and installing the toilet, but we needed a new one. We started tiling from the tub, laying the sheets out, removing tiles, and when we were done we covered the small gaps at the walls with baseboard. It is fairly simple and inexpensive. We bought enough product for the space and temporarily laid it out to see how it would work before starting. We used a level and a chalk line to keep it straight. When one buys tile on a sheet the product tells you where it can be installed that's how you know if you can use it on a floor. This would also be a fairly straightforward project with hexagons on a sheet. The hardest part is removing the grout from the surface of the tile, and it takes many washes with a sponge.

bathroom mosaic

HI, I have never posted anything on the internet before but am in the middle of a renovating a house and have done so many fun things and wanted to share. I couldn't decide on one type of ...»
tile to surround our claw foot tub so I collected various colors of tile that I liked made a mosaic. I didn't draw it out, just wanted it to look free and flowing. Please excuse the mess in the rest of the picture, had a failed attempt at hanging a chandelier, need to find a smaller one. Oh, we have a farmhouse sink with a sideboard to be used in there also. The whole bathroom will be finished with all re-purposed materials, sink and tub found at junk sales, refinished, mirror found in garbage and repainted, windows off of Craig's List, floors taken out of a foreclosed house and put in by my husband, over the sink light from garage sale. OH and the 2 doors, not shown, are also Craig's List items.

someone's yard, trash heap for years and years. I know most people paint the outside of those kind of tubs, if they are doing a color but I wanted to see the color when I'm bathing. I think we paid $50 for the tub and $250 for the refinishing.

that matter when cleaning porcelain. Once scratched it will always become difficult to clean and will dirty up much faster.
