  • random, weird pipe thing

Home Maintenance & Repairs: This pipe is in our upper kitchen cabinet on the left side of our sink.

We have no idea what it is. It wasn't spoken about in our inspection or anything when we purchased the home back in March. It has yellowing like it may have leaked in the past, however, since we've owned the house nothing has happened with it - no water has gone through it, nothing... Any idea what it is? Thanks for your hep in advance!

  • Bathroom before from MLS listing.
  • Bathroom small 'in-progress" to live with before we knew what we wanted for demo.
  • Note inset above sinks below mirror. Would LOVE to incorporate that into our small bath. 1

Design & Décor: Hello!

My husband and I are going to be tackling our bathroom reno first (for those who have been following my questions, kitchen is winning out for next year, bathroom is going to start the ...»
year off; thank you for your help!) and I came across this picture on Pinterest and was curious if it was something we could do ourselves.

I love the idea of the inset in the bathroom. Not necessarily the entire length of the wall, but potentially the length of our vanity, which is 30". I know that there is an inset behind our bathroom mirror that we've yet to close off (from a medicine cabinet that the previous owners actually covered up with another giant medicine cabinet that was 36" long and was not set inside the wall). So I know that we could potentially do an inset as long as 16" in between our studs (we have studs every 16" // house built in 1950). But would it be possible to run it as long as 30" if we cut into the studs? I am unsure how that would affect the integrity of the wall and the overall structure of the house, which is why we're waiting. I also do not know if I should be hiring a contractor for this. We'd like to save as much money as possible, as we're pretty big DIYers.

Thank you for your help! Photos are attached.

Design & Décor: Pink 1960 bathroom??

i want to "update" my 1960's pink bathroom. At this point I am not sure what colors to use to redo. The pink tile still is nice, the floor needs replacing and maybe a few other things. What colors??? Since it us a small anthropomorphic.

Cleaning & Organization: Keeping the toilet plunger/toilet brush sanitized between uses.

I'm looking for a way to store my toilet plunger and toilet brush in a more sanitary manner. I was wondering if anyone has an idea or two for a liquid 'storage' solution (like the stuff ...»
they use in barbershops to keep the combs sanitized). My plunger is 100% hard rubber, so I need something that won't eat away at it. Right now, I just use a small bathroom trash can. It's great for keeping the floor dry, but the ick-factor is up there. I also have cats, so I'd prefer something that is pet-friendly (their litter box is in the bathroom). Thanks!

  • my pink & black bathroom. ugh, help!

Painting: Can I paint over bathroom tile and have it look good?

My 2 bathrooms are horrendous. One is black & pink the other has issues all its own.

I'd love to paint the pink & black bathroom as a cheaper option while I renovate the other. Is it going to look terrible or can it really be a project worth getting into??

Bathroom: Can you replace the metal on a shower stall?

I have an old 1970's shower stall with stainless metal trim. I've purchased oil rubbed bronze faucets and towel bars to update the bathroom. I can not change the shower stall because of my tile floor and marble trim around the shower.
