Bedroom: Building a "Sleep Pod."

Hi Everyone: It's been 5 years since I bought my condo so, I can't quite leave. The elephant, I mean, the gentleman who lives above does nothing but disturb my slumber. I've tried ...»
EVERYTHING to get sleep and nothing works.

SO, I am yearning to build a soundproof sleep pod over/around my bed. Has anyone done it? Do you have any suggestions for wood, soundproof supplies? Anything?I'm a bit stumped but, it will happen!:)Thanks much.

Design & Décor: Mirrored Bedroom Wall

Hello, I have a wall in my bedroom that has really become quite an eyesore. The ENTIRE wall is mirrored!! It is 8ft high and approximately 11 ft wide. I have contemplated building shelves ...»
with open backs to let mirror show through. I have also thought of looking at frosting tutorials, and stencilling but STILL have not been truly inspired. Does anyone have any ideas, or finished projects perhaps that they can show me to possibly inpire me with this wall??? Removing it is a BIG pain, and can be quite messy (already went thru that on a wall downstairs living space). These mirrors WERE quite popular in the mid 90's and I never thought I would grow tired of them.....but I have! I also have them in TWO side by side bathrooms on first floor, LOL. The broken pieces and small shards of mirror STILL sit in a very large bucket on my deck because I refuse to throw away. I know I will have an artistic revelation later and want to use in a mural? I don't know, I just know they did cost a lot of money and are very difficult to remove without breaking. So I figure to use that wall to a greater potential, i just have to find a solution to work with it. Thank You Maria Salcedo

Omgoodness!! Thank You everyone for the WONDERFUL ideas! My style is Vintage, Shabby, and ...»
Romantic. I'm working on my bedroom lampshade now. Using cool Walgreen gift bags for cover media because it has cool black and white pattern. The black on the gift bag feels like a velour. For my mirror, I think I will try something with White Lace, and somehow incorporate my other colors of grey, whites, pinks and black colors. I don't have pictures of mirror yet because I have a bunch of boxes in front of it temporarily now. But, I'm reupholstering vintage chairs with fabrics. The pictures are what I'm using for my lampshades. Haven't started that project yet because everything is "STILL" in dream stage. But, I'm getting closer....The Roll of gift paper is reversible and I plan to use it somehow in a mod podge or decoupage project. here are pics of gift paper and bags. For now this is the start. Thanks everyone.

Design & Décor: Our guest "bedroom" is part of a family room

I'm wondering how to delineate the sleeping area from the rest of the room. The bed and tables occupy one corner. The rest of the room has two chairs and a reclining couch, as well as a ...»
TV. And it looks just like it sounds: a bed shoved into a room meant for another purpose.

I need ideas in decorating a bedroom that will be my four year old grandsons when he stays over and can be a guest room when we have guests. The room will have a full size bed and has corner window seats with storage.

A simple way that I have found effective is to use the things my grandchildren are comfortable ...»
with. When My granddaughter is here I place a few of her favorite stuffed animals on the bed so that she has familiar "friends" when she comes to visit. I also change out bedside reading materials to kids books rather than adult material. I place her framed picture on the dresser (along with those of her sister and cousin) and for fun, I place a few toys or games she enjoys on the window seat. Easy. I also keep a set of drawers for each grand childs "Grandma's house clothes" so it feels like their own. It's a start so that you can personalize these tings in your home...hope it was helpful!

Does anyone know of books or magazines showing how to make a simple headboard for a twin bed?

My granddaughter and I made a headboard for her double bed when she was in law school. She ...»
made it so she could either hand on wall or stand behind bed. She purchase a piece of plywood and had them cut to her measurements. Bought padding and approx. 1/2" foam padding to cover board. Padding stapled to board first, then cotton padding over that to make it puffy. She drilled holes in plywood at intervals to pull buttons yarn through. Once she had the padding on she covered everything with a suede type material in color of her choice and pulled covered buttons, in this case about 2" she had covered in matching fabric and stapled down on back of plywood.

It not only turned out beautiful, but that was about four years ago and she is still using the headboard with a little updating today. I had some collapsible saw horses we laid board on to work on it. I helped her because I have always sewed, but she did most of the work and really is a novice. Try it, you'll like it!

Bedroom: Linen sheets? Yay or nay?

I'm considering investing (yes investing!) in a set of linen sheets. These are not inexpensive (at least in my book) because so far my biggest splurge was 100% organic cotton. So, the question is, has anyone out there purchased linen sheets and do you think it's a good choice? I love the look of them but have never had them. Thanks!
