Renter's Backsplash

I'am a RENTER and as a renter you are limited to your choices and Home Decor. I rent this townhouse and the owner came in and put in new counter tops and it left the kitchen half new & ...»
half old and I needed a pop of color. So I went online for a solution and I found several DIY for renter's backsplash. Saw the pictures and read the instructions and set off to find the following supplies: Table Placemats, and way to hold them in place, which I chose doublesided tape so it would be easy to remove without damaging the walls and a pair scissors. Since my kitchen is a small area I purchased 10 Benson Mills Bamboo Placement for a $1.00 each from Big Lots(I only used 8). Proceeded to apply double sided tape to placemats (make sure walls are clean) and put the mats in place on the wall. Here is my finished product. There was 1 inch gap between the cabinets. So I filled in the space with a cut down(cut to fit) version of the placemat. So far its working......

Tulip Combination: 'Purple Dream' & 'Queen of the Night'

Here is a peek at the wonderful tulip displays at Longwood Gardens this month!

The lily-flowered Tulipa 'Purple Dream' just glows in the May sunlight. And late blooming Tulipa 'Queen of the Night', a classic, tempers the dreamer a bit and adds some great contrast.

Lookin for an Innovative Way to Display Your Pictures?

So fun, so innovative...$3.00 project. Don't ya' just love it when you find some old vintage wares around your house that you can repurpose? I am all about thinkin outside the box with ...»
what I can do with a plain, simple item. I'm sure that thousands of other folks in Fishersville, VA saw this as a simple masher, but I saw it as something different, and for $3.00, I couldn't resist! Seriously, this project only cost us $3.00, as I had the clothes pin, the homespun and, of course, a gazillion pictures of Miss Cutie Pie (aka Bella).

So, with a potato masher that is 9" in height, and about 2.5" in in depth, as our kitchen window is narrow, coupled with a piece of homespun that I frayed the ends, wood glue and an old clothes pin, here's what makes washing dishes much more enjoyable these days.
