  • White Stovetop with 1962 cabinets

Design & Décor: I have a 1962 house with wood cabinets and nearly new white appliances in the kitchen.

What can I do to update the cabinets? Paint them white too? Or some other solution? I am going to sell the house.

If you want to add dimension, considering adding molding. They come in all kinds of decorative ...»
styles and sizes. I've also seen where someone refinished their cabinets; painted etc & then added simple picture frames to the center. This allowed them to change out pictures of family or if they wanted to change the kitchen theme (say from apple to roosters), all they needed to do was change the picture in the center.

i want to "update" my 1960's pink bathroom. At this point I am not sure what colors to use to redo. The pink tile still is nice, the floor needs replacing and maybe a few other things. What colors??? Since it us a small anthropomorphic.

Design & Décor: Mirrored Bedroom Wall

Hello, I have a wall in my bedroom that has really become quite an eyesore. The ENTIRE wall is mirrored!! It is 8ft high and approximately 11 ft wide. I have contemplated building shelves ...»
with open backs to let mirror show through. I have also thought of looking at frosting tutorials, and stencilling but STILL have not been truly inspired. Does anyone have any ideas, or finished projects perhaps that they can show me to possibly inpire me with this wall??? Removing it is a BIG pain, and can be quite messy (already went thru that on a wall downstairs living space). These mirrors WERE quite popular in the mid 90's and I never thought I would grow tired of them.....but I have! I also have them in TWO side by side bathrooms on first floor, LOL. The broken pieces and small shards of mirror STILL sit in a very large bucket on my deck because I refuse to throw away. I know I will have an artistic revelation later and want to use in a mural? I don't know, I just know they did cost a lot of money and are very difficult to remove without breaking. So I figure to use that wall to a greater potential, i just have to find a solution to work with it. Thank You Maria Salcedo

Omgoodness!! Thank You everyone for the WONDERFUL ideas! My style is Vintage, Shabby, and ...»
Romantic. I'm working on my bedroom lampshade now. Using cool Walgreen gift bags for cover media because it has cool black and white pattern. The black on the gift bag feels like a velour. For my mirror, I think I will try something with White Lace, and somehow incorporate my other colors of grey, whites, pinks and black colors. I don't have pictures of mirror yet because I have a bunch of boxes in front of it temporarily now. But, I'm reupholstering vintage chairs with fabrics. The pictures are what I'm using for my lampshades. Haven't started that project yet because everything is "STILL" in dream stage. But, I'm getting closer....The Roll of gift paper is reversible and I plan to use it somehow in a mod podge or decoupage project. here are pics of gift paper and bags. For now this is the start. Thanks everyone.

We are about to restain my counter tops and add family brands to them. I need ideas for living room. Don't want southwestern or the stuff you see sold in western stores. I have ropes, lanterns, his old wore out cowboy hats I had to beg him to quit wearing. I have 8 grandchildren, so it has to be livable and practicle.

  • This is the wall over the wash stand that I will hang the white lattice plate assortment.
  • These are the two walls in which the family pictures will hang.
  • Another shot of the opening on which I want to put the ancestors.
  • The smaller wall on the left side of the opening.
  • This is a shot of the room as a whole. As you can see I have a Santa collection in the corner cabinet, which I really would like to move it elsewhere if I had the room. Also upholstery on the chairs are going to be changed. Suggest?

Design & Décor: Family pictures in the dining room?

My husband and I have just done a makeover on our dining room. We went from 90's wallpaper, 2 coordinating patterns separated by a chair rail, to white wainscoting on the bottom w/white ...»
chair rail & a tan on the upper part of the walls. I have my grandmother's dining room set in mahogany and a walnut Pennsylvania corner cabinet and a walnut dry sink, a large 3' x 4' mirror with a mahogany frame, so what I am saying there is darker furniture in this room. I have an assortment of white lattice plates that I am going to placing on one wall, and already have a white shelf with older white platter, cake plate, pitchers, sugar & creamer, etc. What my real question is, is about putting family pictures on two smaller walls on either side of the large opening to this dining room. These pictures are of my husband's and my ancestors. Should the frames be varying shades of white, cottage looking frames, or should they be the darker wood frames? I have many frames and do not mind painting, scuffing, etc. the frames. I am stuck and would appreciate any suggestions. Well, I have finally gotten pictures that I can post. I have appreciated the comments so far without even having the ability to see anything! Now is the time to look and comment please. Thank you so very much!
