I got lucky and bought 6 wood stools and want to put some kind of Art work on them.

I would obviously put different ones on each one. Every transfer technique is either to time consuming or to expensive. I was an Executive for a Construction Company and after 30 plus years just up and quit because of burnout. I have also liked furniture so I just got started buying, repairing, painting and flipping furniture so I can't use a procedure that takes forever. I have plenty of places to get free graphics but have not found a quick way in regards to transfer the graphic. Any ideas?

Painting with Chalk Paint

This is a great guide for beginners if you've never tried chalk paint before. Chalk paint allows you to paint virtually anything WITHOUT sanding or priming your piece first! I love that! ...»

How to Paint with Annie Sloan Chalk Paint {a tutorial}

I've been reading a lot about Annie Sloan Chalk Paint

in blog-land and on my recent visit to the Luckett's Spring sale I saw ...»

so much of it in action I decided "enough is enough, I have to try

this!" So, I ordered several colors online (unfortunately I don't have a

dealer in my town) and waited for them to arrive. Well, they are here

and I have created my first project! Ta-da! Here is my hutch painted in

Annie Sloan Chalk Paint color: Provence.

You can read the whole tutorial on my blog.

  • How beautiful is this finished Pallet wood coverd coffee table.
  • Had this scratched up coffee table for years...Yes, I have a big dog. It needed a fix , and fast.
  • Here's what it looks like after a heavy sanding. Almost there, but not quite yet.
  • The old weathered pallet wood is almost the same color as my sanded down table top.....only prettier.
  • I used a brad gun with 2 inch nails to attach all my wood strips.
  • I mixed a couple colors of craft paint with some water.
  • I used my washed down craft paint to make all my freshly cut edges to look weathered...but not new.
  • I love how all the holes from the pallet nails line up on the new table.

Updating an Old Coffee Table With Pallet Wood

If I could throw things away, this project never would have happened. I had the very weathered coffee table with deep nasty scratches. I sanded it down as far as I could, but it was still ...»
too weathered. I had a pile of weathered pallet wood that fit the top of my table almost perfectly. I attached the wood with brads and hid my freshly cut edges with watered down craft paint.

Much better now...it looks "intentionally" weathered

Recycled Garage Door

My husband and I replaced our old solid wood garage door and I knew the sections were at risk of heading off to the dump in my husband's truck if i didn't come up for a use for them! I ...»
wanted more outdoor seating so I decided to create a large outdoor bench using two of the better sections. I used the one section for the top and then divided the other section in thirds and used them as the "legs". I then scraped the loose paint and used a heat gun to remove some more. I wanted some of the paint to stay since it really made it look weathered. I gave it a good sanding and then added some wax to help it hold up just for this summer. I am trying to find some marine polyurethane so I can really seal it well. I added some pillows which just makes it really comfortable and we use it all the time!

You can see the full post on it's transformation at http://reposhture.blogspot.com/2012/07/garag...

Painting: What paint to use on unfinished pine cabinet for rustic look?

I bought a pre-loved glass & pine china cabinet with a drawer base that had never had a finish and is paint ready, doesn't even need sanding. I want to do a somewhat rustic look in a cream color. I was thinking of a milk or chalk paint so it doesn't end up with a plastic look from todays acrylic latex paints. Can't find online from Home Depot or Michaels. (Anyone know of a store near Spokane, WA?)Where do I find these paints and how to use them? Thanks!

  • This little ottoman started life as an end table!
  • I found her barely standing at the thrift store for $2.99! I love to repurpose furniture don't you?
  • The Husband added a few screws to make the table more sturdy, then I cut 2" foam to fit the top of the table & glued it on...
  • I painted the legs and sides of the table my favorite color blue and distressed it just a little using sand paper ...Four layers of quilt batting insured a cushy feel! I used an electric stapler which was a necessity for this project!
  • I chose a gray-blue piece of heavy fabric for the cover and stapled like a nut! (If you are a professional I'll go ahead and apologize!)
  • Leftover fabric from some curtains and some trim I got who knows where were perfect for a ruffle to hide the 7 million staples! (I stapled the ruffle on, then using a giant needle, sewed the trim)
  • She's a sweet little ottoman!
(We've since moved and now she lives in the Master Bathroom where she's a comfy little stool!)

DIY Ottoman from an old End Table!

I love taking an old piece of furniture and giving it a second life! This $2.99 end table from a Thrift Store was perfect for turning into a cute ottoman! I did it for under $25.00 and it was actually pretty easy!
