  • How beautiful is this finished Pallet wood coverd coffee table.
  • Had this scratched up coffee table for years...Yes, I have a big dog. It needed a fix , and fast.
  • Here's what it looks like after a heavy sanding. Almost there, but not quite yet.
  • The old weathered pallet wood is almost the same color as my sanded down table top.....only prettier.
  • I used a brad gun with 2 inch nails to attach all my wood strips.
  • I mixed a couple colors of craft paint with some water.
  • I used my washed down craft paint to make all my freshly cut edges to look weathered...but not new.
  • I love how all the holes from the pallet nails line up on the new table.

Updating an Old Coffee Table With Pallet Wood

If I could throw things away, this project never would have happened. I had the very weathered coffee table with deep nasty scratches. I sanded it down as far as I could, but it was still ...»
too weathered. I had a pile of weathered pallet wood that fit the top of my table almost perfectly. I attached the wood with brads and hid my freshly cut edges with watered down craft paint.

Much better now...it looks "intentionally" weathered

Use Hemp Oil & Milk Paint to Create a Chippy, Old Painted Finish

Looking for a safe and easy way to add old patina to a piece of furniture?

I love the look of chippy old furniture, but those authentic finishes can be hard to find. ...»

And quite often, they're not safe because the paint used contains lead.

That's why I love milk paint. It's safe and non-toxic, and it's so easy to rcreate a chippy, crusty painted finish that looks like it's hundreds of years old.

I used Miss Mustard Seed Milk Paint in Kitchen Scale and Tricycle on this vintage buffet I found.

The secret to the chipped and peeling finish is hemp oil, which I sandwiched between the two layers of paint.

You can read more about the hemp oil resist technique on my blog.

An old dresser drawer makes for a great dog bed. Just ask Rosie. Add a parasol for a bit of shade (and fun).

I got lucky and bought 6 wood stools and want to put some kind of Art work on them.

I would obviously put different ones on each one. Every transfer technique is either to time consuming or to expensive. I was an Executive for a Construction Company and after 30 plus years just up and quit because of burnout. I have also liked furniture so I just got started buying, repairing, painting and flipping furniture so I can't use a procedure that takes forever. I have plenty of places to get free graphics but have not found a quick way in regards to transfer the graphic. Any ideas?

  • Dreamy new colors in the bedroom make all the difference.
  • Bold red, and knotty wood wasn't doing anything for the "mood" in this bedroom. It was time for a change.
  • We started out the weekend just painting the walls a new color but that bed just kept calling to me....

The Power of Paint

Sometimes all it takes is a little paint to entirely change the mood and feel of a room. What do you do when you hear that voice inside your head that says "go ahead and paint that wood...you know you want to!"

  • I painted the casing on this vintage oak dresser with Reclaim paint in off-white.
  • the before picture. The mirror was missing so my hubby cut a piece of wood to replace it.
  • I used spray paint for the original hardware.
  • I created a chalkboard in place of the missing mirror. I used Rust-Oleum Chalkboard Paint, the brush on kind.
