I got lucky and bought 6 wood stools and want to put some kind of Art work on them.

I would obviously put different ones on each one. Every transfer technique is either to time consuming or to expensive. I was an Executive for a Construction Company and after 30 plus years just up and quit because of burnout. I have also liked furniture so I just got started buying, repairing, painting and flipping furniture so I can't use a procedure that takes forever. I have plenty of places to get free graphics but have not found a quick way in regards to transfer the graphic. Any ideas?

Painting: What paint to use on unfinished pine cabinet for rustic look?

I bought a pre-loved glass & pine china cabinet with a drawer base that had never had a finish and is paint ready, doesn't even need sanding. I want to do a somewhat rustic look in a cream color. I was thinking of a milk or chalk paint so it doesn't end up with a plastic look from todays acrylic latex paints. Can't find online from Home Depot or Michaels. (Anyone know of a store near Spokane, WA?)Where do I find these paints and how to use them? Thanks!

Repurposing & Upcycling: Wooden Crate Delimma

Everyone was really helpful with my chaise lounge color, I'm hoping to get your creative input for a wooden crate I bought just because it was cool. It appears to be a very sturdy, old ...»
military shipping piece. Medical stuff. It measures 30" x 17 x 15. I thought maybe a table, but I'm not feeling any good ideas yet. Maybe you all could let me know if you have ever done one like or have seen one finished up. Took pics.

Cleaning & Organization: Getting smoke smell off artificial leather

I picked up a 'leather' looking chair someone had put out next to the road. It was beautiful burgundy on rollers. I stopped and loaded it in the back of my truck on my way to work. Didn't ...»
notice the smell till I unloaded it much later at home. I have tried window cleaner, orange oil cleaner, Pine Sol, leather cleaner, dish soap and have stopped short of bleach. NOTHING is working! I have the chair out on my covered porch and when it is really humid or rainy the smell about gags me. REALLY hate to pitch it, there just has to be something else I haven't tried yet. Any suggestions???

Again, here I go with Odo-Ban. It can be purchased from WalMart or Sams...or if not there, ...»
look on line. Every household needs at least a gallon of it around. Make sure you turn the chair on its front and spray the "insides". It could have been "used" by a pet and Odo-Ban will get rid of that smell. You have to take it to a garage like area and spray it over several days. If after a few sprays the odor does not go away and there is a covering under the cushion, you may have to take that loose and investigate for some source of smell. If it is a good chair in good shape, it is worth the effort. If you do not know how to put the covering back together, you may want to check with an upholstery shop before you start. They might give you a good price to put it back together for you. Just take care.

Painting: Vintage Chaise What Color to Paint

Should I paint this it's original white? I also have a glass top table to match. In great shape and the chaise has good wheels. Would it be best in a nice white enamel or a color? The ironwork on the arms and foot of the chaise are great.

colors were a tan and blue, very faded. I paid about $5, spray painted it a high gloss black and it turned out so beautiful I have it in my living room for my coffee table. I put a beautiful gold and black tray(made in Italy) on top, also a thrift store find for $5 on 1/2 price day. It did take 3 coats of paint. I love it!!

Polly, I will be sure to post some photos of mine. I bought some gorgeous cushions at Kmart ...»
for 160.00 dollars and the material for the sofa cost me about 80.00. My son, is a carpenter, and he is gonna start working on it for me next week. He just became a Dad a few months ago, so it may take a couple of weeks for him to get it done, then I have to paint it! So excited to finally be getting a start on it! Photos to come!

Buying new closets - need advice

We're buying new closets for 2 kids rooms. I'm not sure whether to have them custom made or to buy ready-made from a furniture (or big box) store. ...»

Of course, custom made is more expensive, but there are a number of advantages:

1.maximizes space, both vertically and horizontally, since it's made exactly according to the wall size.

2.We can pick out the Formica, knobs, wood, pattern, etc. to suit our (my wife's) taste.

But... is it worth it?

Does anyone have advice for us? We'd like to make an educated decision.
