  • This is the dresser. I have had it more than 20 years. I have a matching taller one, but I want to use that for something else.

Painting: Can I use wall paint on old, finished wooden furniture?

I have an old laquered dresser and an old wooden twin bed that I want to repaint for my son's 3rd birthday.

I bought some teal and lime paint from the mis-tint rack at Lowe's, intending on using it on the walls. I also wanted to use it on the furniture so it all matches, but I want to make sure that it is going to stick. I have read about sanding and priming it first, but I would love to know if there is any way I can get around this step without buying any other special paint? ...»

I will try to post a pic later when I get home of the bed. I dont have one right now.

Die Fabric ON a chair

Hi, I have a similar chair that I want creamier. I need ideas on how to die it (myself). I'm thinking of tea/coffee dying, but that will probably give a splotchy finish, which may be okay as were are using it in a shabby chic type baby room. I've used fabric spray paint before, but it did leave a harder finish. Any ideas?

I got lucky and bought 6 wood stools and want to put some kind of Art work on them.

I would obviously put different ones on each one. Every transfer technique is either to time consuming or to expensive. I was an Executive for a Construction Company and after 30 plus years just up and quit because of burnout. I have also liked furniture so I just got started buying, repairing, painting and flipping furniture so I can't use a procedure that takes forever. I have plenty of places to get free graphics but have not found a quick way in regards to transfer the graphic. Any ideas?

Painting: What paint to use on unfinished pine cabinet for rustic look?

I bought a pre-loved glass & pine china cabinet with a drawer base that had never had a finish and is paint ready, doesn't even need sanding. I want to do a somewhat rustic look in a cream color. I was thinking of a milk or chalk paint so it doesn't end up with a plastic look from todays acrylic latex paints. Can't find online from Home Depot or Michaels. (Anyone know of a store near Spokane, WA?)Where do I find these paints and how to use them? Thanks!

Cleaning & Organization: Getting smoke smell off artificial leather

I picked up a 'leather' looking chair someone had put out next to the road. It was beautiful burgundy on rollers. I stopped and loaded it in the back of my truck on my way to work. Didn't ...»
notice the smell till I unloaded it much later at home. I have tried window cleaner, orange oil cleaner, Pine Sol, leather cleaner, dish soap and have stopped short of bleach. NOTHING is working! I have the chair out on my covered porch and when it is really humid or rainy the smell about gags me. REALLY hate to pitch it, there just has to be something else I haven't tried yet. Any suggestions???
