Renter's Backsplash

I'am a RENTER and as a renter you are limited to your choices and Home Decor. I rent this townhouse and the owner came in and put in new counter tops and it left the kitchen half new & ...»
half old and I needed a pop of color. So I went online for a solution and I found several DIY for renter's backsplash. Saw the pictures and read the instructions and set off to find the following supplies: Table Placemats, and way to hold them in place, which I chose doublesided tape so it would be easy to remove without damaging the walls and a pair scissors. Since my kitchen is a small area I purchased 10 Benson Mills Bamboo Placement for a $1.00 each from Big Lots(I only used 8). Proceeded to apply double sided tape to placemats (make sure walls are clean) and put the mats in place on the wall. Here is my finished product. There was 1 inch gap between the cabinets. So I filled in the space with a cut down(cut to fit) version of the placemat. So far its working......

Outdoor Kitchen

We got to start this project with a "clean" slate!! There was nothing but a concreate slab, so we didn't have to demo anything for once! We completed this project prior to our indoor ...»
kitchen, which may seem odd, but it was more affordable. We use this space ALL the time in the summer and even a few times throughout the winter.

Concrete Stain: Rust-oleum Concrete Kit (This was the biggest change in the look of the patio)

Kitchen Blocks: Menards

Counter Tops: We helped our contractor pour them, but he completed all the pre-work and the leveling of the tops. I would leave this to the pro's unless you are good with concrete work.

All the steps can parts and pieces used can be found on my blog :)

Painted Kitchen Cabinet Details

After posting my kitchen tour, many people have asked what paint I used on the cabinets! I'm so happy many of you liked them. I used Sherwin Williams Cashmere paint. I blogged about all of the details.

I love how you added the glaze to the cabinets. It gives them a high end cabinet look.

My Chalk Painted Kitchen is Finished!

I long debated on chalk paint vs regular paint for my kitchen cabinets. With the help of a professional artist/painter we decided that the Annie Sloan Chalk Paint would be the best ...»
choice. A less than bright white was achieved by mixing colors and a two toned effect was used by using a lighter color on the uppers and a darker on the lowers. The paint was finished off with varnish for a clear coat protection.
