I used to - the only catch is the air flow can disturb the gas stove burners - so we simply ...»
turned it off when cooking that way. (Can I ask why you are leaning towards one?)

Dee W - I never really had that issue, do you run your exhaust fan when cooking? Another trick if you do & you have a standard hood / oven - try cooking more on the back burners

Shirley R - anything is possible, recheck all your connections & if all else fails you might just have to call in a electrician or maybe try with a new fan

  • White Stovetop with 1962 cabinets

Design & Décor: I have a 1962 house with wood cabinets and nearly new white appliances in the kitchen.

What can I do to update the cabinets? Paint them white too? Or some other solution? I am going to sell the house.

I was in the same boat. My wood was basic ply wood so I first painted them with cooper paint ...»
and then with crackle medium, after painted the top layer with beige paint. I put all new knobs on them too. It gave me an old new look.

Kitchens: Under mount s/s kitchen sink coming loose from granite!?

My turn for a real tough question! I have a KWC s/s under mount sink with granite counter tops, originally installed 7 years ago. About 2-3 years ago, I had to address this issue - the ...»
sink coming loose, so when you rinse out the sink .. it drops down into the sink cabinet.

I had a granite fabricator that came out (paid him $250), cleaned the surfaces and reattached it. We once again had to wait 24hrs before my husband reconnected the sink.

Here we are 2yrs later.. the SAME thing is happening. *sigh* I certainly don't want to go through forking out $2-300 for the same thing .. to only have the same thing happen again. Besides, wondering now if my husband can do it (better?!?). Thanks in advance...

for all that don't know, just cut your plywood ruff top (wood the granite itself is glued to) ...»
1/4" short of your template of your sink, set your sink, set your granite on top and your done. never separate never a problem. FYI for bad installers. if you have to go threw all this trouble to set your sinks, you don't know what you are doing or your installer is an amateur in the granite installation trade. 11 yrs in the trade and no call backs. • Help!

I'm looking for something to put in this space as I do not want cabinets.

The space was for a 24' dishwasher, which I can no longer have in my condo.

We had a space that we took a very old dishwasher out of our old house. We built a slide out ...»
garbage/recycle bin. Yes, it did look like a cabinet, but the garbage was out of site. You could also just add some shelves and find some nice fabric for a curtain. The fabric will add a little ump to your kitchen.

Hi friends! I need to know if I can tear this wall down? I want to renovate my kitchen to give it more space and take that wall out of the way and have an open floor plan, but that wall, Im just not so sure about it.

warning.. from these photos 1) you cannot be 100% sure you can take it down. From my ...»
experience from evaluation of them.. Id so no, you cannot. The common rule in in home construction is that the ceiling joists run the shortest distance, so it is very likely that this wall holds a load. What is contradictory to this is that there are no headers on each open side - so either a) headers are buried to carry the load, or your home is built with full width trusses. So .. if you want a definitive answer - post pictures of the outside and up in the attic :)

Kitchens: The kitchen cabinets have pulled away from the ceiling, leaving a gap of approximately 1/4 inch.

Is this a structural problem that needs to be addressed or can we just fill it in with calk or plaster?
