Design & Décor: I've had my stove (Maytag) about two years and have never cleaned the

oven. Until recently, it didn't need it. Now it does. I've never had a self-cleaning oven until this one and after quickly reading the instructions, I'm hesitant to turn it up to 500 degrees for so long. Is it better to do that or to clean it with an oven cleaner? Oven cleaning has never been a favorite thing of mine. Which works better? Self-cleaning or DIY? And if DIY, what's the easiest way to do it? In the past, I've always bought something like Easy-Off, but would rather go a more natural way, if possible.

Design & Décor: Need Ideas for Kitchen Space Under Cabinet

Need some ideas for this empty space under this cabinet. I was wanting to save on the back splash material by not using it here. I will be using it from countertop to ceiling to the left ...»
of this cabinet and of course under the rest of the cabinets. Any ideas?

I'm looking for something to put in this space as I do not want cabinets.

The space was for a 24' dishwasher, which I can no longer have in my condo.

We had a space that we took a very old dishwasher out of our old house. We built a slide out ...»
garbage/recycle bin. Yes, it did look like a cabinet, but the garbage was out of site. You could also just add some shelves and find some nice fabric for a curtain. The fabric will add a little ump to your kitchen.

Remodeling: Kitchen Renovation

Hi friends! I need to know if I can tear this wall down? I want to renovate my kitchen to give it more space and take that wall out of the way and have an open floor plan, but that wall, Im just not so sure about it.

warning.. from these photos 1) you cannot be 100% sure you can take it down. From my ...»
experience from evaluation of them.. Id so no, you cannot. The common rule in in home construction is that the ceiling joists run the shortest distance, so it is very likely that this wall holds a load. What is contradictory to this is that there are no headers on each open side - so either a) headers are buried to carry the load, or your home is built with full width trusses. So .. if you want a definitive answer - post pictures of the outside and up in the attic :)

Kitchens: The kitchen cabinets have pulled away from the ceiling, leaving a gap of approximately 1/4 inch.

Is this a structural problem that needs to be addressed or can we just fill it in with calk or plaster?

Our kitchen floor is getting worn and we would like to replace it with tile or even food.

The adjoining room has dark hardwood..how hard is it to tie tile with the wood? If we go with a wooden floor...do we have to have the colors match exactley?
