Painting: I knew I should have taken a different route home.

But, I didn't. I drove right past the vintage shop and turned around and yes, I went in the shop. Lo and behold, this is what I walked out with. Never mind that I haven't even started on ...»
the vintage chaise or the wonderful crate! But tell me, would you have left this in the store? Now comes the question.....do I leave it as is or shall I paint? I'm thinking I'll use in the lanai. It's a pretty sturdy piece and vintage for sure. I would say 40s or 50s. I think it looks good as is, but wanted to get some opinions. Thanks.

Thrifted Dresser Turned Shabby Chic

I'm an avid thrifter. I go out about 3 times a week in search of the gem among the rubble. I've been looking for a dresser for a while now and on my 3rd jaunt to one of my favorite Thrift ...»
Stores last week I found this antique dresser, all wood, and dovetailed. The only flaws were the "dents" the employee said. If he only new......The roughness of the piece adds character. I took it home got immediate color inspiration from a flowered water color like print from a new throw pillow. I decided on doing two tones on the dresser and am thrilled how it all turned out.

Materials Used...

1. Miniwax Water-Based Wood Stain in Green Tea

2. Pantone Paint in the color Nude with a Satin finish

3. Knobs- Hobby Lobby 50% off.

  • This is the dresser. I have had it more than 20 years. I have a matching taller one, but I want to use that for something else.

Painting: Can I use wall paint on old, finished wooden furniture?

I have an old laquered dresser and an old wooden twin bed that I want to repaint for my son's 3rd birthday.

I bought some teal and lime paint from the mis-tint rack at Lowe's, intending on using it on the walls. I also wanted to use it on the furniture so it all matches, but I want to make sure that it is going to stick. I have read about sanding and priming it first, but I would love to know if there is any way I can get around this step without buying any other special paint? ...»

I will try to post a pic later when I get home of the bed. I dont have one right now.
