Painting: Help with Curb Appeal - unsure what color to paint shutters, door, etc

My house has a tin roof that is a burgundy shade, but I think burgundy door and shutters is overkill. Please help me figure out another color that will complement it. I am thinking black ...»
shutters and perhaps a white door to make it stand out more. Thanks!

With this color brick, white or off white is the only color. A photo of entire front would be ...»
nice because it appears to be out of balance. The posts would look great if you can make them a little larger in diameter...are you missing one...it looks a little out of balance...?? The door would be very pretty framed out with impressive molding (you can find some designs on line). Shutters will finish it out, but do not go too wide because the door needs more accent. (also shutter windows on side of house for finished look) I would take up the grass about 6' on all 3 sides of the porch and put in a white fence and then plant miniature shrubs and pots of flowers on both sides! Everything does not have to be done all at once so you can budget as you go along. This place could be magnificent! Or you can put up a fence and hang window boxes on it.

Painting: What paint to use on unfinished pine cabinet for rustic look?

I bought a pre-loved glass & pine china cabinet with a drawer base that had never had a finish and is paint ready, doesn't even need sanding. I want to do a somewhat rustic look in a cream color. I was thinking of a milk or chalk paint so it doesn't end up with a plastic look from todays acrylic latex paints. Can't find online from Home Depot or Michaels. (Anyone know of a store near Spokane, WA?)Where do I find these paints and how to use them? Thanks!

I have had these chairs for years. They were old when I got them! I have painted them several times, but the paint just chips right off. This time, I took all of the right steps to make that paint hold on tight!

Painting: Vintage Chaise What Color to Paint

Should I paint this it's original white? I also have a glass top table to match. In great shape and the chaise has good wheels. Would it be best in a nice white enamel or a color? The ironwork on the arms and foot of the chaise are great.

  • Use broken shovel handles as stems and enjoy the flowers as yard art. 2
  • Clean hubcaps with some and water, lightly sand to paint will adhere.
  • Spray paint hubcaps in fun colors. Use things you have to add interest (spray a plastic lid for the center of a flower, use tongue depressors for a design)

Hubcap Flower Yard Art

All you need to make some fun, inexpensive yard art are some roadside hubcaps, spray paint and little creativity. ...»

Steps:

1. Clean off hubcaps with soap and water, then lightly sand.

2. Spray paint each hubcap in a bright color.

3. Use things you already have to add stems (sticks, shovel handles), leaves and more details to the flowers.

4. Assemble the flowers and add them to your yard.
