ANTS? Easy, Safe Solution!

An exterminator told my friend that when you begin to see ants, they are the scouts. Stop these and you won't have ants. My son discovered that if you spray them with Windex (or any other glass cleaner), they are exterminated. Keep after it for a while and you won't have ants. We have used this for years. 2 days ago our humming bird feeder leaked onto the concrete front porch...the liquid got down in the crack between brick and concrete so there was not way to flush it out. Ants ...»
appeared quickly, I sprayed them with Windex. Watched through the day and kept spraying them. Now ant free! Safe for kids, pets and environment! It is worth a try before you spend hundreds.

There are a lot of solutions noted here that I have never used. I just know when I see a few ...»
ants on my kitchen counters, I spray with a glass cleaner (even the cheap ones work) and they drop in their tracks. (I do spray around on counter too and leave it to eliminate "trail" to lead others inside.) I do this about half a dozen days in a row (maybe 6-7 ants at a time) and then they are gone for months. We do not get them often. When they invaded in a hoard when the sugary liquid from the humming bird feeder spilled, I sprayed for 2 days on them on the front porch and they were gone! That's all I can tell you. It is not a complicated process! Since it is the season for ants to come inside, I keep some window spray sitting around handy on kitchen counter and on porches.

Are these black ants, or red ants? For the dark ants, you can try Borax, Baby Powder, Tee Tree ...»
Oil, Ground up Chalk, Bay leaves. If they are red Fire Ants, you'll need the Pro's.

Gardening: Squirrel-proofing large pots

Does anyone have a good, easy, inexpensive way to keep squirrels out of large pots that, for now, contain dirt and veggie seeds? They jump in the pots and dig, not giving the poor seeds a chance to sprout!
