Pest Control: I have a friend in Atlanta who is seeking out environmentally friendly pest control for roaches.

If I see one (fortunately we don't seem to have a problem) I use the shoe to get rid of them.

Gardening: Help with male dogs peeing on shrubs.

Last fall my awesome husband put a dozen little shrubs in the ground, it seems my two male dogs and a friends male dog like to mark them. I am wondering what I could do if anything to prevent them from doing this. The areas where they mark are brown and black. I am worried they are going to kill the shurbs before they get a chance to grow up and give us the privacy I am hoping to get between us and our neighbors. I recall reading online that I could mix jalapeno peppers with water in a ...»
mixer and spray it on the shrubs, that once the dogs smell it they will stop marking them. Any help or ideas are very gratefull. Thank you all. I can try to post pics if needed.

time he looked up there were hundreds of them coming out!! he got the vacuum and sucked them up. i suggested he spray some flying insect killer into a plastic bag and cover the hole to the light fixture with it. he had been intent upon spraying directly into the ceiling, but i was concerned it would short out the power. we live in northern Massachusetts and have never seen this before.any ideas?

Cathy, you are correct about the termite issue as you do not really have any issues with them ...»
up there due to the deep freeze cycles in the ground. Also saying the look like may flies would rule them out as well. Termite swarmers look more like flying ants and often are mistaken for them. A sure way to tell if they are flying ants or termites is to pick them up with their wings. If the wings fall off they are termites. Ants wings will stay on the bodies.

If you can take a photo of a few of them close up so we can see what they look like we can help you identify what they are and why they are there in the first place.

cross our fingers it works. Woodbridge, the neighbors thing might be true (j/k). I saw the frogs climb our pool, seems like their feet have suction and they can do it no problem, they have also climbed our deck. Our grass stays short since we like to use our backyard in the summer. However, a small creek runs behind our backyard.
