Gardening: Do any of you in the Alpharetta/Atlanta area know of a local source for lady bugs?

We've had quite an increase in aphids this year and were wondering if anyone had a local source for lady bugs or other organic solutions for the aphids?

Outdoor Living: Racoons - more wildlife

Well we just added more wildlife today. These are young and there is no mama around. Will these racoons bother my fish pond? Any other problems I should be aware of.

Pat M and Frances B, I have a semi-large Koi pond that has been here over 8 years. The only ...»
thing that ever ate my fish (when I first got the pond) was a big heron. Maybe the racoons get enough fish in the little lake in my backyard. I have no problems with any of the wildlife which is abundant.

Pest Control: bird deterrants

I have an emergency light in my yard that the birds love to rest on and use as a bathroom spot. I clean it once a week because of the mess and was wondering if I put an owl statue nearby ...»
if it would deter the birds from this area. Any other ideas are also welcome.

Go to bird barrier.com or bird be gone , they make a device called a daddy long legs that is ...»
made especially for lights. Its easy to install and may work for your needs. They also have bird wire, or bird spikes, even shock strip ,which becomes more expensive. I would not use the "hot foot or bird gel " as it does not last.

Cleaning & Organization: How to keep a rainbarrel clean?

I have a 35gal. and a 55gal. rainbarrel and was wondering since they are homemade from food-grade plastic barrels is there a way to keep them clean and discourage mosquitos and other bugs from breeding in them? Or algae- one is in morning sun.

Home Maintenance & Repairs: What could be eating my wood siding ?

It started with just the corner of a fascia board and now has appeared in a bunch of other places. The fascia is cypress and the shingles are cedar. The only place the damage is being ...»
done is on the south or west side of the structure (an "out" building). It looks like it's being chewed. The attached pictures give you a pretty good idea what it looks like.

The house, which has the same siding and is about 50 feet away, is not affected at all.

Any clues and solutions gladly accepted !

@Becky H. - HA HA - I like your "original" way of spelling knawing!!! ...»

@Kelly F. - Somestimes if ya can't beat 'em ya might as well join 'em, right?? I keep telling my other half that it's an impossible task to try and keep the squirrels from raiding our bird feeders so we should just buy dried corn and put it out. It's either that or continue the futile battle of them emptying the feeders!!
