warning.. from these photos 1) you cannot be 100% sure you can take it down. From my ...»
experience from evaluation of them.. Id so no, you cannot. The common rule in in home construction is that the ceiling joists run the shortest distance, so it is very likely that this wall holds a load. What is contradictory to this is that there are no headers on each open side - so either a) headers are buried to carry the load, or your home is built with full width trusses. So .. if you want a definitive answer - post pictures of the outside and up in the attic :)

cabinet space, but all the pink, including the tiles on walls and floor must go. Any suggestions?

  • We added lots of cabinets, counter top and a pantry to a wall that was previously empty.
  • Kraftmaid cabinets were installed by my dad and I. 3
  • All the forest green is gone! Yay :) Everything is new from the wall out and we spent as little as possible. 1

Remodeling: Any ideas on how to transform a large utility shed into a "cute house?

I purchased a large 12'X16' utility shed to fix the inside up as an office. The interior is very cute and welcoming, but the outside is an eyesore in my backyard. We've thought of ...»
building a porch on it and painting the front door a pretty color, but? The porch idea would be the width of the building 12' and 4' out. I thought of columns but that is as far as I have gotten. Help please from you wonderful creative people. I will try and get a picture in a day or two.

Remodeling: 1970's Birch Kitchen cabinet refinish. HELP!

Hi! I'm am in the process of refinishing Birch veneered kitchen cabinets. They were installed, brand new around 1972. The cabinets were shellacked over the existing hardware and have been ...»
a nightmare to clean and sand. I tried using Tung Oil to finish them, because my husband and I love the grain of the wood. But, it made them a not so pleasing, gold color (which was the color they were when I started) . Has anyone stained these types of cabinet doors with a darker stain, without them looking yellowy/gold? Thanks for any help!
